I can't install fallout 2..

First time out of the vault
I can't install fallout 2 on my laptop because when I put in the cd and hit install, windows freezes. the mouse cursor disappears like it's putting up the installation screen but the screen never comes up. has anyone had this problem?

sorry if this has already been addressed none of trouble shooting things sounded like my problem...
