I can't use my newly acquired hunting rifle!!!

I am new to this game, but it definitely is a heck of a lot of fun.

Right now I am in Den, and after some days of hard work I managed to barter a .233 Hunting Rifle from Flicker(or flick, or whatever his name is). I also bought some.233 Full Metal Jackets to go with it.

So I equipped the rifle like I would with any other weapons in the game that I've been using with no problem, but I can't use this one!!

When I am using any other weapons, the button with the picture of the weapon is clickable and therefore I can attack my foes, but with this hunting rifle that button on the bottom of the screen is not even activated!! What the hell?!?!?


My small gun(hunting rifles are considered small guns, right?) skill is 65 percent, and my strength and agility is 7, and my endurance 6. Is there any requirement to use the rifle that my character do not meet?


I may sound like a total loserish noob asking such retarded question but plz help me out friends.

Can you use another two-handed weapon like a shotgun or pipe rifle? Having a crippled arm will make a two-handed weapon "deactivate". That is the most likely solution.

To heal your crippled arm, ust the Doctor skill (press 6 and then click on your character. You may have to repeat it a few times.)

Not meeting the requirements, having a low skill score or a damaged eye doesn't prohibit you from using the weapon, it just lowers your ToHit chance.
