Interplay has tried so hard to balance Fallout 1&2, that it almost doesn't matter what kind of character you play
A list of things that bothered me about Fallout 1&2.
1. Money was almost useless
2. Different guns$ammo were too much alike in combat
3. Too many perks, traits and skills that didn't really do anything at all
Almost all skills were absolutly useless besides:
1.small guns 2.energy weapons 3.science 4.repair 5.speech
While it is great to have all this variety for your character to develop, it is very frustrating to find out that if you improved on anything but the top 5 skills, you have wasted your skill points. (I played a straight-ass sniper in both games and I never had to miss out on anything; no replayability)
Suggestions:
1. Less variety but more difference in game-play terms (more specialized guns, ammo, perks, traits and skills)
2. Make really great items and guns that you probably won't get if you only have combat skills
3. Make characters specialize and make them pay for their advantages; more benefits, more drawbacks. (adds to replayability)
What do you think?
