Diversification of currency. I just realized that it was an interesting solution that the Brotherhood only accepted BOS bills and the Wasteland traders only accepted the metal plates.

Not that it was implemented in the best way possible (I mean, haggling for your Standard Issue?) , and at least those traders that sat IN THE BUNKERS should have accepted both, but it would make sense for various wasteland communities to have various currencies.

In both Fallouts the Hub and later, NCR trade influence played a part, but in a more fragmented society, there would not neccessarily be one tender.

Barter would probably predominate in small communities, whilst currency might default to that of a large trading bloc or powerful city that would have long-term security. There wouldn't be much point carrying your tiddly winks if they were useless over the next hill or next year. If there were multiple large competing groups, they might have different currencies more as a power and sovereignty thing. It could be annoying in game.

It would of been even better if the price of the item could of been varied for each currency.

Take the healing powders and stimpaks, a tribal might not trust having a needle stuck in them and so wouldn't value the stimpak. While a vault citizen or Brotherhood soldier would laugh at the idea of healing powders and value the stimpak more even if it had been around since before the war.

Yeah reminds me of the market system in x3, thing is not a lot of games are geared to that kind of complexity

I always hated the currency system in all Fallouts. It just doesn't make sense in a post apocalyptic world. Food or grain or something would've been fitting I think.

Bullets would also make a good currency, because they're both quite small and useful.

Bullets could be quite heavy and toxic.

Different prices for the same item in different contexts would be good, although the system could be overly simplified if linked to different currencies.
