I love CTB! I made it through the first mission with two half-health guys (Ghost and Doc, the two who'd I'd kept behind to take no damage and save ammo while the rest of the squad went ahead, except of course for the rather un-dangerous room scoutings I sent Ghost on), but I still loved slicing and dicing raider scum. Then again, the deaths can be attributed to my accidentally pressing the RIGHT mouse button to move guys and shooting one of the fellows in the back (I don't know why the keys around to be different than most games with more than one character).

I think that the first missions in the real game should be a bit easier and that there should be a pause button to issue commands with a la Baldur's Gates 1&2.

I also think that guns should use a little less AP. Either that or give characters more AP.

FORMATIONS! I hate shooting people in the back ('cept raiders, o'course) and it would be great to be able to tell them to either not shoot their comrades unless they have a 30% chance or less of doing it, or get in lined formations to stop them. Preferably the chance thing.

And one last, minor complaint---the lack of targeted shots in CTB. They'd only be used rarely but would be really helpful to snipers with 300% in small guns.

Why not just get rid of them altogether? Let's just throw out everything from the Fallout games that's in Fallout Tactics because they're just slowing things down.

After all, all you really have to do is move the guys around in CTB mode.

Maybe in FOT 2, you won't even have to bother moving the guys either.

RE: I like the demo a lot! But I do have a few complaints...

Im wondering about how the final game is going to be presented...i assume that when you run it, it'll have the initial logos ..14degrees east..interplay...then the intro movie(s)..then the menu..but is there really going to be some kind of story to link everything..is the main character supposed to be a tribal accepted into the BOS? or does the game just start with him being part of the organization..it would be kind of cool to mix a bit of betrayal and loyalty issues into the game..kinda like the story behind "DeusEx" ..if anyone has played it..

Also, im not sure if those 2 demo missions will be the first 2 in the final game (although they probably might be)

Many of the suggestions that i read a lot of people making to solve CTB issues seem to be asking for even more "automation" of character control. Basically, in order for MicrofortE to solve the CTB issues, they should just create a huge in-game character AI customization utility for you to set how the characters will respond to every concievable type of event they encounter. So all the player has to do is 'guide' the party characters to a location, and to sit there watching as they attack/kill/defend themselves with minimal interaction..movement is the only thing that the player still has complete control over..if they took THAT out, who knows what things would turn into. That would defeat the whole 'strategy' idea.

As for formations, I thought i saw something about that in the 'keys help' menu.. maybe that might be a good idea for them to implement - if its not already in the game - to be able to set custom formations

RE: I like the demo a lot! But I do have a few complaints...

The system used in the first two Fallouts was made for RPG's, not squad-based tactical combat games. They could alter it to fit the mold, but then we'd lose our engine and not a lot of people want that. I guess that the AP cost of guns is in their for game balance, but it seems a bit unrealistic that the characters fire one shot with a pistol ever once in a while.

Rather than nine in one burst? The squads would be dead in seconds! It makes my head hurt when I have two conflicting views in there! AAGH. I just hope they make a compromise between realism and game balance by the time Fo:T is in its final form, and hopefully one that doesn't make the game extremely difficult or give its interface the bulk-over.

And one more thing--you don't just have to set them to aggressive mode and move them in CTB. That could result in the deaths of many squaddies to back-shots. And there's also a fair bit of sniping involved that you can partake in in CTB (second mission!).

P.S. I thought you liked CTB, Proverbius... or was it just that you disliked how hard they'd made TB? AAAAaaaa

I had that idea once but come to think to it, it really takes out the fun of this game. If only u in control of yourself and the rest were auto, wont this be like no fun at all.

There wont be a need for formations caue u just had to move into team into position which works as a formation.

I've never said either. Perhaps you should re-read my posts.

lol you misunderstand me.

I was purposely mocking/exaggerating (must have not come out right) - im trying to say that the more player character AI features are added, the less interaction is present..the less fun the game is. It is nearly impossible to properly play in CTB mode without using sentry modes.. so essentially, i think CTB=bad

RE: I like the demo a lot! But I do have a few complaints...

Next time I will read your lips when u say those words so I can tell if u are mocking/exaggerating or voicing out your thoughts.
Can u even play in CTB without using sentry modes? The idea of using sentry modes is to let u have fun without too much mircomangement. How could u control six ppl in one second, unless in TB.

RE: I like the demo a lot! But I do have a few complaints...

Yeah, CTB is near-impossible without sentries because of the lack of a BGish pause feature. With it, gameplay would be even more fun and would not require the use of sentry modes (which are nice additions to gameplay, IMHO)
