I need some help here

Still Mildly Glowing
Well basically I'm stuck in the past. Everytime I try to play NWN or WOW, or any 3D RPG game. (there are some exceptions)
Also the amount of items annoye me because I'm compelled to pick them up because I'm such a packrat. I know Oblivion sucked but the whole time I was collecting items, it got to the point I quit because no matter where I went I could kill anything.
I get bored REALLY fast with games like WOW.
I look at the logo that say forgotten Realms (NWN2) and it makes me want to play NWN2 so bad. But when I start to play it I find a reason to quit and continue to browse the internet. Or I go play BF2 or Warcraft 3. I do play a lot of FPS's, however those aren't my favorite games. I've spent many hours playing Age of Empires(one of my favorite RTS's, I think its even better then Starcraft even if Starcraft is one of my top 10). I'm a HUGE rpg fan, yet I mainly played Baldurs Gate 1/2+Icewindale 1/expansion/2+Check out Torment a bit. I they made a new Baldurs gate with the same graphics and same perspective I would be SO happy. But that wont happen. So right now I'm trying to get myself to play NWN 2 without being bored or not focused. Anyone have any advice for me? Am I just getting older or do games really suck? I'll play a game a almost beat it and then at the very end I'll just stop playing it because its boring. I played FarCry and Scareface and got to the very end and quit(then formatted and lost my saved games). I've about over played Fallout 1/2. I constantly have warm fallout feelings thinking about it, but it seems way too overplayed. I played Deus Ex about 14 times, and beat it. I loved that game, sadly number 2 was a big piece of shit.

Anyways I want to get into NWN2 but how can I make it more fun, or does anyone have any advice. I used to play games all day growing up, then I decided it was time to leave the vault(my bedroom), and then now its hard to get attached like I used to.
recently I got to fully play Icewindale 2, It seem more of a goal to beat it rather then enjoy it, the beginning is very horrible INMO. But I was very amazed by Icewindale 2. I wish Obsidian would make another Baldurs gate with the same graphics and view, but work on it on their free time and release it for free. Hell I'd even buy it. But it seems in order to get it published it HAS TO BE 3D!!! :(.
I played WOW for 3 days, and I didn't get addicted AT all. I simply gave my account to my sister(it was a present; I also felt bad since they were willing to play with me).
BTW, Carmageddon is one of the greating racing games ever to exist. I'm surprised its not talked about on here considering it was published by Interplay.

Here's my advice on making NWN2 a fun game to play:

1. Remove DVD from drive.

2. Return it to it's box.

3. Go back to the store where you bought it.

4. Trade it in for Arcanum or Vampire: Bloodlines.

5. Profit.

I am going to play Arcadium, and already played the Vampire game from Troika(I loved it). So your saying theres no chance at me enjoying NWN2. Even if the people who made Baldurs Gate made it(well some of them). I mean there has to be some good about it. Come on, I love Forgotten Realms. Maybe your right!

It surprises me that anyone would be "amazed" by it. I enjoyed it, and thought it was a step up from IwD all things considered, but it has many painfully weak spots (and the beginning areas are not among those).

Err.

There are pretty good modding tools for Infinity Engine if you want to work, but they're probably geared towards the BG2 ruleset rather than IwD2.

Did you try the System Shocks?

What is System Shock like? I heard so much good about those games, I'm very interested. Tell me a bit about it. Is it like Deus Ex or what?

It does have some similarities with DE insofar that it's a FPS with stats, and yes, it's a great game, one I heartily recommend.

Anyway I could lock the camera angle on NWN 2 and make it look more like Baldurs Gate. I tried the free camera angle, but you can still turn it. I think if I can just make it act like the angle of Baldurs Gate, maybe I can play it. I just got to the swamp. I wanted to enjoy this game because I really like forgotten realms, and Im just looking for ways so I could. There was a mod on NWN1 that made it look more like baldurs gate(the interface). I might be beating a dead horse though, sorry. Just wondering.

First off, NWN2 is far from a perfect game. It's very uneven, with Act 1 being really shitty basically. That said, I think the game gets better after that, though it's still not a classic by any means.
That said, I think it's leagues ahead of NWN1 which has an unbelivevably shitty main campaign.
Of course, NWN1 has countless modules for it now (a few of which are really good) and it has also had 68 patches I believe.

What you could do is look through the Neverwinter Vault for NWN2 modifications. http://nwvault.ign.com/

I know there is an interface mod which makes it like BG2. As for the camera, I'm not sure. I just use the "free camera" mode, it's a bit clunky but easy enough to get used to I think.

There are also modifications that limits resting, improves henchman and monster AI (a must for me if I ever replay it again).

Do you have any consoles? There have been a few PS2 games out recently which play in 2D using really nice animations rather than 3D, but are still very fun and easily to be addicted to.

As for PC, I would say maybe look for a few free (or in beta) RPGs coming out. Also, if you have never played Planescape Torment or Escape from Monkey Island, play those now; they should entertain you and keep you busy =P
