I tried everything!!!! :(

Jolle

First time out of the vault
My German Fallout II Version always shows this damn "application error" every time i enter the western part of klamath...
I checked thousands of forums and tried everything they suggested but it still doesnt work.
A shortened list of things i tried:
-patched it
-ran it in compability mode
-reinstalled it
-checked the cfg file
-lowered the hardware acceleration
-ran it on 16 bit color quality and 800 x 600 pixels
-reinstalled it and chose "large"
-reinstalled it and chose "full"
-tried all kinds of other patches
-commited suicide

crap.

If there is ANY WAY you guys can help me, let me know.

thanks

Yet you somehow failed to actually read *all* the stickies. So go do so and follow them.

o rly?

you're one tenacious lil' fucker in that case, i'll give you that.

it's probably not much help, but can you perchance give us some information on your pc (hardware, OS,...)? and check the state of your CD (could the cd be scratched so badly that it has readerrors?).

if everything fails, you could try to run it in a virtual environment.

Hardware:
AMD Athlon Processor
1.20 GHz, 384 Mb RAM
Radeon 9200 SE

CD:
The CD is not copied and has no major scratches

But what do you mean by "virtual environment" ?

@the other dude:

As I said, this list was already SHORTENED....I can't even remember all the stuff I tried....humm....yeah I checked my system for that background program but found nothing and removed all the autostart programs and a lots other stuff they recommended in those millions of forums I visited....

first off: a word of advice. while you probably mean well, try to remain calm & civil when replying to moderators. on the internet things are easily misunderstood or misinterpreted.

in itself that doesnt really mean anything, as CD's can decay without visual signs.

stuff like VMware. creates a virtual environment inside your operating system. (kinda like running windows xp from an ubuntu linux setup)

that way you could run the game in a virtual windows 98 without actually having to install it.

anyhow, it's kinda technical as it emulates the environment. there are no certainties that this would work for playing FO, of course.

...
I fucking hate people who can't do what they're asked to do when asking for help. Like reading all the stickies and following them. The stickies exist for a reason, pal.

I'm still missing whether or not you tried a manual installation (which you should do anyway), or what the actual results of your attempts were. For instance what happened with your full install.
Yes, I know, I can see that you tried. What happened? Did it succeed? Did it fail? Was it manual? We can't read minds, you know.

Don't forget to include your Operating System, because y'know, incidentally, THIS MIGHT BE IMPORTANT.
