Fallout 2 was a step in the right direction in that you could program the behavior of NPCs in your party. BUT I'd rather have a SET party of characters (Like in Baldir's Gate) rather than just me and a bunch of hard to control NPCs.

I'd like to develope characters that could use different kinds of weapons or equiptment. In Fallout 2 I stick with my favorites. One character could use rifles, Flamethrowers for another, pistols for another, ect...

And I could have my chemical dependant character that uses all sorts of stimulants. Another "Theif" character that has good lockpick, stealth, ect.. Another "Brusier" Character that has great strentgth, uses melee weapons,ect... And a martial arts character to use those martial art techniques.

As Fallout stands now with control of only one character there are many aspects of the game I don't use or want to use as I have facorites that I enjoy. Having a party would give me the ability to enjoy ALL that Fallout has to offer WITHOUT having to play it OVER AND OVER AGAIN !

Plus if I lose a charcter in a party then I don't have to hit "restart" and begin from the last save. Unless I WANT to.

It's apparent you do not know too much about the basis of Fallout. Try watching Mad Max or Road Warrior sometime to get a feel of a "lost man in a lost world" effect that was intended for Fallout. And there is a reason why they are not controllable. That is the purpose of NPCs.

But you get the same generic specialist cliche AD&D party that has been the 'standard' in RPGs for some time. Give it a friggin rest. I like scraping around to see who I can get, and see how they can compliment my party however they can.

The game is supposed to be awkward at times. That is part of the challenge and purpose. If the game was handed to you on a silver platter, it'd be pretty boring, wouldn't it?

Hmm seems like Fallout Tactics is what I wanted. Shame they didn't fully complete it but I still like it.

Fallout is about exploring your charackter not six of them.
anyway I like the lone gunman. i have never completed fallout with any APCs with me.

Intended, yes. Fallout 2 didn't even got near the feeling in Mad Max with all that Hi-tech, not even when you got that car and wore black leather jacket, carried only a shotgun and 20 shells, and that damn dog of course. BTW It's not fair that Mad Max can be actually killed in f2, he should be immortal.

APC stands for Armoured Personnel Carrier. I was not aware that one existed in Fallout. :) Maybe the Highwayman might qualify?

I am not sure I understand what you meaN????

Besides I think FO2 cam pretty close to the mad max feel. The game would certainly lose its intended focus if they actually went ahead with what the guy who started this thread suggested. Fallout was alway intended to be a one man show, perhaps with some guest stars from time to time. It would really suck if it turned into Baldur's Gate, as good as that game was. I think the level of controll was just about right because that is about as much controll as you can exert over other people in the real world. They weren't supposed to be your characters, they were supposed to be just some other people who decided to tag along for a while.. given one reason or another.

The problem was that FO2 was rushed so some quests weren't completed and the overall number of items and weapons was not balanced. That is why there was too much tech, and why it lost much of teh fell of FO1. I think it could easily have been game of the decade if done correctly, but it only ended up being game of the year.

I don't know one person who hasn't found Mel Gibson -> Mad Max from the game. Therefore I could call him a "newbie" (of some sort) to Fallout 2, unless he didn't understand who Mad Max is. I have played Fallout 2 over and over again countless times (but I usually skip the "Kill Horrigan" part and start a new game), trying to find and do everything possible (Call it a hobby).

Or he could have been asking why you thought that Mad Max (Mysterious Stranger) should be immortal.

Ever think of that?
