So, is there any way of hooking up a 360 to a monitor without doing a lot of bullshit? I want to be able to switch back and forth from my gaming rig and my xbrick without much trouble. I have a Samsung Syncmaster 206bw.

I'm not getting an xbox if I can't.

I guess if your monitor has a component or DVI (not too sure about that) port it shouldn't be much of a problem, as there are converters out there. I could be wrong though, but since it works fine with my LCD projector, I don't see why not. You'd still need an external sound system though.

You can if your monitor has a VGA input. If it doesn't, they have some cables that allow you to do so for sale. I saw them in Walmart the other day.

The catch is you can only use that Microsoft cable and it's more expensive than most you can find. It has to do with the way the connectors are placed in the back of the 360. There is a workaround but it requires you to mutilate the cable.

I was thinking about doing it but then decided to get an HDTV.
This guy's FAQ may be helpful.

I do have a spare VGA input on my monitor, so this should work swimmingly. Thanks, guyses.

Let me know how that works as I will be doing this myself when my 360 gets in... would rather go for a PS3, I love aesthetics.

I had a VGA cable connected to a 22" Acer LCD monitor for a good 12 months, and it worked brilliantly.

Is that what you were after?
