It seems when ever I see folk taking a dose of fear... That thought crosses my head. It's really ridiculous and unfortunate how fearful the USA has become.
The Internet is an annonomous place... Well, it used to be, until governments like the USA started monitoring and recording everything you do on-line. Many of the founding fathers saw neutrality and held it up for what it was, a thing of beauty.
Your bringing up this community is a perfect example of the social and political reasons why the Internet is an amazing place. People with extreme differences from all over the world are able to communicate regularly and speak their mind to their hearts content. There never was a venue such as this and if you truly think of the magnitude you can comprehend how it has all ready shaped the lives of millions. Economic reasons aside, think of terrorist/freedom fighters, political demonstrators, organizations of any kind; they can all use the Internet to communicate, plan and execute with a tenth of the resources it would have conventionally took.
Keeping that in mind you understand how much of a threat this is to existing establishments. This is why many countries such as the USA have resorted to monitoring all internet activity possible. Here in the USA almost the entire inferstructure has been compromised by Big Brother. But hey, at least you know they will stop you from the evil doers.
Bottom line is, consider yourself lucky that you might get to talk with the evils that you mention... Better to know your maker no? At any rate, I too think you could easily communicate with those that you fear in your daily activities. Nothing you or the rest of the world does will prevent that. We are human, capable of anything.
