Ian Chesterton from Doctor Who?

First time out of the vault
A thought for all you Doctor Who fans out there who also enjoy Fallout (the original). At least one of the good programmers at Interplay was aware of the British Sci-fi TV show called Doctor Who, as evidenced by the TARDIS special encounter (the blue police box). Further evidence(?) can be said that the robot dog from Fallout 2 is based on K9, the Fourth Doctor's faithful dog (although I've always been somewhat sceptical about this). Is there any indication that the NPC of Ian got his name from one of the Doctor's original companions, Ian Chesterton?

it is certainly possible - there is all sorts of odd movie, tv show, sci-si, pop culture refrences all thru the Fallout games (even moreso in FO2, which could be a tad over done).

As for the NPC.... who knows? Maybe Ian was just a cool name, I know 3 people named Ian, and they were not probably named after Ian Chesterton

If you have questions about gameplay, post them in the Help forum. If you have questions about the characters and setting, like this one, post them in the General Fallout talk forum.

Moved.

I think you`re on to something, even if the k-9 thing could be from several sources, that`s hard to find out.

Sorry about misposting. I thought it was kinda about gameplay, since I was discussing that special encounter in Fallout 1. Also, I didn't really think there was a connection. Iit was worth asking, since I couldn't find anything definite anywhere.
