improvements on the armor system

Something I'd like to see in Fallout 3 would be an improved system for armor. One thing that bothered me about Fallout 1 and 2 was that, if you had a piece of armor like the leather jacket in your inventory, it would just be a simple jacket. But when you put it on, you suddenly had a full suit of leather armor. Strange... I would like to have the option of custimizing my suit of armor to be segmented, so I can get a vest, leg armor, helmets, et cetera separately and mix and match. This would make more sense (no more instant full body suits) and would allow for more customization. Also, It would be nice to be able to wear multiple layers of armor in some circumstances, such as being able to equip a bulletproof vest with a leather jacket.

RE:why not

Yeah it would be realy cool if you started a fight with lets say:A maffia boss. His bodyguard shots you but nothing happens 'cause under your crappy leather jacket you're wearing sa bullet proof kevlar vest.

Well, actually, if you played long enough and had billion perks, damage inflicted by tommyguns and pancors were minimal, despiting the fact that you wear leather jacket, kinda stupid, though...

Of course...you got better at dodging those bullets...thus more minor wounds...hence the whole point of HP... Ok, so it requires an imagination and some retarted logic (i.e. Why don't stimpacks heal a % of hp as opposed to a set amount if you take less major hits.) I think if the game gets to realistic with too much micro-managing and stats...it won't be as fun...

Think about it

If you could combine the armors/clothing your character wears, you could for instance wear a bulletproofvest under a jacket, as said before.
You could also include normal clothing, like raincoats underwich you can hide your weapon (think Matrix) and walk around in NCR as if nothings wrong. And, you know what? Let's throw in some Advanced Hardened Power Armor Shorts MkVI (Stealth model) with build in compass, just for the fun of it. You see, there are Limits.

RE: Think about it

I actually see nothing wrong with putting some normal clothing into the game. A trenchcoat would be bad ass(I own one myself....gotta love them Army surplus stores :-)) ...cause then you could wear a gas mask and demand that everyone call you Tycho.

YEAH! That's a great idea!!! I've been wishing I could put on my clangin', bangin', noisy-assed Enclave armor and hide it with a wifebeater and a pair of shorts, or maybe even some speedos!!! I can't REMEMBER the number of times my friends have worn a full-body suit of combat armor with a shirt on the outside and I was totally fooled! I didn't even NOTICE their body size had tripled or that they suddenly had plate-marks where their bare skin used to be. That's just a WONDERFUL idea! Of COURSE people in the game would be 100% fooled into thinking you have a square body shape and a Johnson shaped like a shotgun!!!

You really think that low of me, Psykoh?

Did I mension hiding a Power armor with a bow tie? Did you really not notice the sarcastic approach in the end? Are you really that ignorant? Of Course you can't hide a Power armor, nor could you easily hide Combat Armor Enhancements, but the point is hiding weaponry and small armors (bulletproof vests, Leather and Chainmail (heh, it's that Sarcasm (= a joke) again)) Cuz I also think walking into a town wearing (visible) armor doesn't help the first impression people have about you. Hell, I would run like the wind if I saw someone in a Mechwarrior suit (or something lighter) walk into town with a flamethrower, I won't go and greet him and welcome him to our town, show him around and stuf like that ("There are the Bathrooms and at your right you see the National Reserve). Ok, so that was strongly exaggerated.
I typed a lot and probably said nothing but don't tell me you didn't understand what was being talked about, Okay?

RE: You really think that low of me, Psykoh?

Like i said in another post somewhere below it would be hella cool to walk into a town for shits and giggles and scare the hell outta everyone. There goes the allie thing out the window though.

Nothing I want in the game, something I want out of the game

Get rid of those Power armors! Have you ever seen one lying on the ground, the ****ing thing is bigger than a human and you just carry it around without any trace of any backpack or coat pocket. And it's just to freakin big, It SHOULD slow you down.
Let's just replace that Infernal thing with another type of combat armor and something new, but no more mechwarrior suits. (I don't know about you guys, but those npc remarks really hurt me, so I had to kill everyone). Like the new one the Shi was developing.

RE: You really think that low of me, Psykoh?

Not meaning to be cheeky here, but I reckon the chainmail thing is a good idea, since we got spears, etc. I wanna see some plate mail, etc to.
