It's Inside the Vault time again, this time focusing on producer Craig Lafferty. Some stuff gets said I guess?

What’s your job at Bethesda?

I’m a Producer, which means different things depending on the project. Right now I’m the producer responsible for the art department, who are all working on Fallout 3. Before that I was lead producer on the PS3 version of Oblivion.
So anyway Fallout doesn't get mentioned a lot this time. But he claims to have worked on Tyrian, a shoot-'em-up where you could enter a cheat code that made your ship shoot billions and billions of lethal bananas in all directions. That was awesome.

dude he worked on OMF !!! that game so ruled. i still have that in one of my archive hard drives.

OMF was the only real fighter game i liked tbh. the rest of them all sucked although street fighter was fun with friends.

is it just me or are most of the games he has listed are FPS or all real-time games? he hasnt ever done turn-based games at all...

I take back everything I said. Fallout is indeed in good hands.

The Fallout 3 Art Producer...

On Games:
What would you say is your personal favorite game of all-time?
No way to pick just one, but several that come to mind as my all time favorites are Dark Forces, Halo, Doom, Diablo II, Mario 64, SSX, Half-Life 2, Bioshock and Oblivion.
I'll assume SSX is Snowboard Supercross. Inspiring list... :freak:
Pitch your dream game.
A first person RPG puzzle shooter. Basically Puzzle Quest with guns and lots of explosions. And Nukes. You can never have enough Nukes in games.
On Movies:
I’ve found Michael Bay movies hold up much better on repeat viewings if you just watch the action scenes and fast forward through the rest of the movie.
On being boss:
The worst part is probably scheduling crunches and telling people either
a) what you are working on is going to need to be cut or scaled way back or
b) “so, I’m gonna need you to come in on Saturday, M’kay”.
I'll bet he's a joy to work for. Such an understanding of art.

An armhair action junkie who has dedicated his life to getting maximum pleasure from Michael Bay flicks (perhaps he should try muting the sound and playing soft porn music while eating peyote).

In my humble opinion, his basic philosophical underpinnings are part of the cause of the decline of quality and depth in games. I'm sure Todd loves having someone around that shares his vision. More nukes. Everything explodes. Cars! Heads!! Cities!? More Bloom!?!?

Meh.

ahh, christ...i wish just once i could read a few words from the bethies that didn't make my eyes bleed.

Is that a console gamepad on his desk? Connect the dots.

This wasn't the most inspiring newsitem ever.

I just can't stop wondering how many producers can one game have. and every second one is a senior or a lead producer.
