Installed the 1.02 patch, now I can't load my save file.

Being the mindless idiot I am, I recently reinstalled Fallout 2 to give it another shot and started a character not knowing there was an official patch at the time. Well, yesterday I decided I'd go ahead and download the patch, installed it, and now my old game won't load because it labels it as an old version.

It was a stupid mistake, and I pretty much figured this would happen. Is there anyway I can revive my old save, or do I pretty much have to start over with the new patch?

If there's a way I can uninstall the 1.02 patch I would prefer that as well.

I do believe in the readme it has said that old saves are not valid with the new version.

Luckily for you, there's a savegame converter, your mileage may vary with this method. Usually it's better to start again with the current version. You may want to try Celestial's Unofficial Fo2 Patch, more info can be found on the modding forum here.

Can you elaborate a bit on that? What exactly am I losing or risking in using the save converter?
