I want to install it for Windows 7 64bit, but I'm already a few hours into the game. If I do install it, will it erase my saves? I don't want to restart because I already have restarted 3 times due to bad character creating on my part. Any help would be appreciated!

The high-res patch will not influence your savegame (as far as I know). If you are playing with the rp, the patch should be installed already anyway.
