I don't know if I could continue to live without my Internet Radio. Whenever I get bored of my hard-drive-bound music collection (which is often, since I never buy new music 'cause I'm poor) I can simply boot up winamp and search the Shoutcast stations for something cool. I've been listening to funk, hip-hop, alternative rock, and indie stations for about nine months, and I've found some pretty good ones that I'd like to share with you folks. Of course, feel free to post your own favorites. Include links, too, both so we can immediately hear the station and so that we can inadvertently support the station, because the only way these people stay afloat is from ads.
WeFunk Radio is a funk station from Montreal. It's been going on for a decade (or something) from midnight to two AM on a local Montreal station, and they put up each show on the site a few days after it's broadcast. Basically, its a non-stop stream of old-school hip hop and funk. And it's awesome for just about anything- chilling, doing homework, playing Fallout, etc.
Wazee is a alt-rock and indie station. It can get a bit dodgy, both in terms of audio quality and the quality of the bands features (no Hawthorne Heights-type shit, though, thank god). Still a good listen.
XRM is another, more mainstream alt-rock station that mostly plays stuff released between 1989 and 1997. Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and the Chili Peppers are featured prominently.
SwissGroove is a smooth jazz/ambient station. First off, shut up, it's good stuff and I'm not gay. Second, it's impossible to be wound-up or angry while listening to this station. You will feel cooler than you ever have in your entire life, guaranteed.
So that's all. Get to it!
