Spazmo from RPGCodex have posted a review article about the year 2003 and he of course mentioned Inertplay and Fallout:
Without any doubt, Interplay is King of the Shits for 2003. They've been fucking up a lot over the years, but they seem to have developed a chemical process for extracting the essence of fuck-ups from undistilled time and have taken a fatal dose this year.

....

Anyways, work on Van Buren grinded onwards. As the team started asking fans silly questions on the Interplay boards, hints started to emerge as to the nature of Van Buren. Add to that some concept art discovered at a BIS artist's personal site and J.E. Sawyer's constant tidbits and it wasn't long before it was common knowledge that Black Isle Studios was finally working on Fallout 3. Once again, development of the game was proceeding smoothly. Even if it might not please all the fans due to its plot, Fallout 3 was bound to make some money for Interplay.

But, of course, it was not to be. Any Fallout fan worth his salt really hates Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, known as "FOPOS" or "Fallout: Enforcer" in referece to the action spinoff that killed X-Com. But beyond FOBOS being horrible, there's an extra good reason to hate it:

It killed Fallout 3.
well there's more where that came from..

Brings a tear to my eye.

Simply put it was the best review I have ever seen for a game.

Like we Swedes say: "Fy fan va' rätt!" :D

Seriously..I hope IPLY reads all these reviews and whatever..and realize what big damn mistake they've made. :(

What a great article.

Has anyone here played Escape Velocity Nova or Geneforge? How are they?

A good read. I am still worried that ineptplay might survive longer than we wish for, though. Anyone know how BGDA2 is selling? By all accounts the people that they fired made a pretty good game for a console shooter thing.

:-)

ohh i hgave to say to that article in thw wqords of stone cold steve austin from wwf

OHH HELL YEAH

that auithor just opened a big old can of whoopass on interplay

Oops... I posted a reply too soon, I only scanned through the article, and only commented on the game review portion. Sorry, there is a lot more information than I first saw, forgive me for being a tool. Sometimes I am.

P.S. The pool on how soon Interplay will fold, isn't such a good idea on their forums. But what the hell.

Jesus, isn't their an RPG out there that these Star War psycho bastards like???

Did you read the thing?

Bah, I should have been more clear and not such a wise ass.

The only games that received good reviews, or better put, didn't recieve any negative comments, were GeneForge 2 and EVN. Geneforge 2 and EVN (don't know about the latter, haven't played it yet) are great games, but the impression that I get from that article is that those two were the best RPG's of 2003. Everything else was either decent, subpar or pure shit.

Don't get me wrong, I do agree about his views on Interplay, and he did address the flaws in most games (except Geneforge 2), but I personally feel that ToEE, once all the bugs are fixed, is an excellent game that is better than the indie games and I had a better time playing KOTOR also.

And c'mon, NWN wasn't that horrible, I personally enjoyed it.

To sum up, the article was an enjoyable bash-fest to read but I think he went overboard on many of the reviews. It's as if Inturdplay soured his outlook on all the games produced by the larger developers and he was praising the indies for not being such money whores.
