Is it just me or is the GECK really buggy?

Admittedly, I only started using it probably a couple a weeks or so ago... but I frequently and continually encounter new errors about some of the nif/model files that seem either benign or unrelated to anything I've done to the mod. For example:

I've had other problems where certain things display fine in the GECK (like a custom Vault door) but in-game they show up with a completely different texture. I also had a problem where the GECK would crash if I didn't have a microphone plugged into my sound card.
 
Just press YesToAll for these warnings, works for me, never has anything happened.

But GECK by default is buggy as hell, after 30 minutes of usage it just simply crashes regardlessly of what I'm doing in it. If Obsidian had to use such buggy creator, no wonder New Vegas at the start was unplayable.
 
I haven't had any weirdly specific bugs, but the usual ones that everyone experiences are possibly the worst.

Seriously, not being able to make NPCs with skin that actually matches their face is beyond irritating.
 
Yes, the GECK is very buggy. I can't understand how they could make FNV with it without additional tools. There are lots of workaround for things available (like the skin color bug), but it's super annoying.

I wish I could import heightmaps... That's the biggest negative problem for me. I hate painting the gameworld by hand.
