Is it still possible to patch the game if needed?

First time out of the vault
I recently reinstalled Fallout 2(I bet your asking yourselves why anyone would ever uninstall it!) and can't remember if the CD i used is the original stand alone game i purchased or from the collecters edition of 1 and 2,and which stated that it was the latest patched version.

Playing version 1.02 and am wondering if i'm S.O.L if it was pacthed beyond that.
 
1.02 was the latest patch.
If you had a patch000.dat in your Fallout 2 directory after installing, then it was already patched. If so, don't patch it with 1.02 again.

Also, just to avoid a shitload of bugs, you may want to install Killap's patch (found in the archive here). The game is far from bugfree even with both the official and Killap's patch, but it's a lot better than without killap's patch.

Some fixes would require a restart to be visible, but killap's patch will not invalidate any savegames. So you can continue playing, although perhaps some fixes might not take effect.

As for the 1.02 patch, if it isn't already installed, it would require starting anew, although a savegame converter does exist for it.
 
Sorry to be a pain.

There are two versions A and B.I am assuming that i would want B since A includes 1.02 and i already have that patch?
 
Your a lifesaver!Though i did need the A version since my 1.02 had the 000.patch file.

Once again thanks for the heads up on the patch here.One nice thing is that i am no longer zipping around the map at light speed and can actually have random encounters again.

One oddity i did notice,though it doesn't happen often,is that sometimes pointblank burst fire from an smg does 0 damage when hitting.It has happened both for me and against me a couple times,the oddest one with me being only in my vault suit and being hit for 0 damage.I don't think DR had anything to do with it as mine was 0% at the time.

hmm, thats strange. Are you using savegames you had before patching?
 
Sander, don't coax the user into talking about unofficial patches in a forum it's not allowed in.

The misunderstanding was on my part.

I didn't realize the Mod Forum was the place for unofficial patch questions/comments.
