Is rank good for anything?

Yeah what do you think allows you to buy better items? The fact you went from mission one to mission two?

Nope it's rank, hence if you get brown noser earily later on you'll have access to better gear sooner than later and energy weapons are a must.

I didn't really think about it, but I assumed it was because they built the new bunker and put newer, better stuff in the 'frontier' bunker. The stuff in bunker alpha is still crap compared to bunker beta. Then, as the area was tamed, better resources became available. Like I said, I didn't really think about it.

Far out. Thanks for the tip.

So, what about my sidekicks? If I take all the highest rank guys available, will an incredible cornocoupia of great things suddenly become available? Or does *their* rank not count for anything, anything at all?

Thanks again

Bunkers share resourses...
So your quartermaster has the same stuff in all the bunkers. I sold some stuff in the second bunker and bought up all the good stuff - I arive at the bunker three and forced to buy up my own crap... :(

Stuka!

Yeah, this part totally annoys me. Either the BOS has supply teleporters, or it's just piss poor game design.

I bought up all the M16 ammo after Mission 6 and haven't seen much of it at all since. A few mutants has it in mission 8, but not enough to where I can use burst any more.

The thing that really chaffes my ass is that ammo was common as dirt in Fallout and Fallout 2, which doesn't seem right in that setting. However, you go to FOT and ammo is in short supply, which doesn't make sense at all because the BOS have the ability to make Power Armor. If they can make PA, surely they can make ammo!

Ammo

I'm pretty miffed about the ammo, but I've mentioned it in other threads. The quartermaster seems to have a set inventory, and keeps all the items you sell him and never gets a new supply of anything. Only going from one rank to the next opens up new inventory items. I much prefer the old way they did it changing the inventory after so many days in fallout 1 & 2... I'd be using my ak-47's all the time if it weren't for the lack of ammo... If anyone knows of where to go and what to fight on the main map for various ammo that would be a great boon.

RE: Ammo

Not enough ammo for AK47?? Are you kidding me? This stuff (7.62mm.. damn Nato rounds suck in real life) comes in DROVES! You will find this ammo from mission 1 right to the end. You must not be examining raider bodies or something when you kill em! All 6 of my guys at low level use AKs with constant burst fire.. shit I can't use the damn ammo up fast enough! I didn't even buy any, I just search all the bodies of raiders on missions and I get tons.

You must be doing something horribly wrong, either that or you are firing like 50 bursts at enemies from too far to kill em... cus I can go nuts with burst and never run out.

RE: Ammo

Maybe it's just me, but I tend to play in sniper mode most of the time. I rarely do a burst, since it costs an extra action point and often doesn't do as much damage as an aimed shot. I reserve burst mode for close encounters, and then I usually use a shotgun. Unfortunately, I'm running a little low on shotgun ammo - probably down to about 400 rounds for my whole party. With the 7.62 ammo (especially with the super mutants), I think I'm carrying about 600 rounds for each character, plus about 5000 in my APC, and I sold another 5000 or more rounds to the quarter master (for about 1000 cash - cheap bastard!)

Anyway, you would have to be seriously wasteful to run out of 7.62 ammo. Try sniping at some people instead of getting close and using burst mode. The hunting rifles are good until you find some M1s or Sniper rifles. Incidentally, the quartermaster also has thousands of rounds of many types of ammo that I'm no longer using, like 9mm, fusion cells (from mission 3), 30.06, etc. While it might not be the most realistic interpretation, I'm finding that the 7.62 weapons are doing much better than anything else I've encountered.

RE: Ammo

first on rank. Rank is extremely imporatant when it comes to recruits. the higher level you are, the higher level recruits you can get.

As goes for 7.62mm rounds you shouldnt waste em all even though they are all over the game. but when you get higher in the game you get m249 heavy machine guns that use 7.62. also the vindicater uses em. what i would Definately advise is to save up as much 50 cal. ammo you can. The browining heavy machine gun is a truely badass gun but the 50. cal ammo runs short. The browning and the plasma rifle are the 2 things that can really devistate the robots that you'll fight later.
