Is the game supposed to be this clunky?

Dick Johnson

First time out of the vault
The camera doesn't move smoothly and it takes a moment for the characters to respond to commands. Is this supposed to be like this? If not, how to fix it?

You got all your lastest drivers installed?

Is your PC running ok? No virus scanners or malware clogging up your resources?

Yep, checked for viruses and updated the drivers with no result. The demo ran clunky as well.

I have the same problem with fallout tactics, there is this annoying lag which is weird because my
my specs are :

Windows xp (home edition)

P4 3ghz
1024mb ram
Ati x1950

(no virus scanner or other programs running in background, other games work fine)

Any suggestions are more than welcome .

When scrolling across the screen the game stutters for a couple of seconds (from 1 to 3,4), the recruits react normal to commands.
Also, changing the graphic settings (ingame or in the catalyst control center)doesn't seem to help...

Oh and I forgot to mention , I have the latest patch installed.

Sounds about right. :) It also stutters for me, when I start to scroll but quicky smooths out. If defraging and changing drivers doesn't help then there's nothing I can suggest. But really 4 seconds? As much as that?

Yes, and it can be very annoying especially since it worked perfect on my old computer years ago.

Anyway thanks for the replies

I barely meet the requirements for Fallout 1&2. The movie scenes for FoT lag a bit. but the gameplay is exellent. I always think it strange when my old games crash on these new computers.
Maybe tech has come so far that the computers dont know what to do with some of the data. Like owning a record when all you own is a cd player. I'm always gonna keep my old 2000 gateway pc. it was made to play fallout & surf the web. What could be better. Plus, it only came with 18 gigs of free space...
So after installing the fallout series, it's full.
