Is the restoration project needed to play Fallout 2?

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Right now I have the Steam version of Fallout 2. Is Fallout 2 censored and buggy like Fallout 1 is? I have the restoration project already downloaded but I don't like the fact it adds extra content.

GOG/Steam version of FO2 is censored in some minor places. For example some skills/traits/perks pics are replaced:
bipH79F.png

(First Aid uses pic from FO1.)
And in nearly all text, the word "drug" has been replaced with "chem", and "addict" (and its noun/verb changes) replaced with "reliant", "habit-forming", etc.

If you don't want extra content from Restoration Project, you can just install killap's Unofficial Patch.

Killap's unofficial patch doesn't remove the censorship. I have it installed in my Fallout 2 directory.

Well, technically they are not "bugged", unlike missing children FRMs breaks kid stealing in the Den, and killap probably didn't notice those FRM censorships (and no one ever reported them) when he was working on RP/UP.

RP is not needed to play F2. It's a mod. Mods are not "needed" to play games. If you don't like any mod - RP in particular, - you're free not to use it, no worries.

However, personally, i like RP times and times more than Steam. Talking bugs and censorship, i'd expect "Steam" part doing much more harm in those regards to Fallout 2 than Restoration Project ever could. ;)
