I've just started and I was wondering if Stitch is any good at healing, His skills are quite high Doc 70+ F/A 90+ yet when I click on either skill and try to apply it to another character or him, I get no healing (in FO 2 it wasn't immediate and you needed a couple of tries).
Any suggestions.

Firs of you need to use a first aid kit or doctors bag. Equip one of those and click on it. Your medic will then be able to heal you. Stitch is good but i trade him in later for Hurt. I just like all women teams.

Regarding the ladiez :) I have Farsight and one (I forget her name) who has pilot tagged. If I change Stitch later on will I not have wasted all his levelling up? How much better can another medic be?

Their are a couple of recruits who have pilot tagged but you don't really need one. Enough books are available to boost your own characters piloting skills.
As for Stitch, it all depends. If you like the guy, keep him. But in general, higher level recruits aren't worse then lower level ones. The only difference being that you, as a player didn't have full control of their leveling. All recruits are specialists so their skills will be good ebough.
I like to play with an all women team consisting of
my own character (female of course and small gunns sniper)
Farsight
Ice
Rebecca
Hurt
Alice
That gives me 4 snipers (the first four), 1 lockpicker (Rebecca), 1 medic (Hurt), 1 big gunner (Alice) and 1 grenadier (Alice)

Actually thats the type of team I'm looking for, I was looking at Jo's (pilot) stats and her PE is like 4 or something but when I was choosing, I thought you'd need a pilot and she was the only one with it tagged, I'm happier now that I wont have unlevelled recruits as I get further, Will I have to let Jo get killed or can I replace her in the bunker while she's still alive. I'm only on the Freeport mission so far, so I can start over fairly easily.
Thanks for the help JR

You can always switch recruits in any of the bunkers
But in general you don´t need anyone else than your main character when figthing but the others can be used to carry
stuff around and selling what you dont need
btw the higher rank your main character has, the better is the recruits and stuff you get acces to :P

Thanks for that Maugan Ra :)

I just completed Preoria (with my house's lights ON!!!) with the following posse:

My char (Str-6, Pe-5, En-8, CH-4, Int-10, Ag-10, LK-4, Gifted, Kamikaze, Tagged Small Guns, Big Guns, and Traps)
Farsight
Stitch
Rebecca
Jo (Why the HELL did I bring her?)
Stein

My posse has its standard issue as Hunting Rifles and AK-47's. Stitch rocks. When I has to go fight Roachor and get the last battery, I took myself, Stitch, Farsight, and Rebecca. He patched us up nice and good while we ran like rabbits away from the turrets. But why I took him was first, he's a good medic. Second, he's a good fighter. As soon as I got his Doctor/First Aid to over 100, I upped his Small Arms to 110. A lethal combo. This boy is lying prone with the other six, a screen away from a turret, and we're all letting it rain. 20 minutes later, we got a ton of Micro Fusion Cells. I can't stand those medics who have no combat skills. Can't stand anyone without combat skills really... Really, Stitch is best with the 9 First Aid Kits, 4 Doctor Bags, Field Medic First Aid Kit, and Trauma Pack I've managed to hoarde for him. That and his trusty AK-47. HE'S the one you call when you wanna castrate a Death Claw from 200 meters.

Heh. I've kept all three members of my starting team. Sure, I'm in Scott City right now, and I've got three other guys with me. I've got my main character, who is an energy weapons freak and has a Barter skill of 164% (enough to drive a hard bargain through the Quartermaster - the Medical Officer is selling me Paramedic Bags for $1000, and I got a pulse rifle for $6000!).

The I've got Farsight, with a Gauss Rifle (and energy weapons skill). Stitch is death-to-all-robots with a CAWS and EMP shells, along with 150% of Medic and First Aid (higher if he wasn't in powered armor). Then I've got Toni and Brian, my heavy-weapons grunts (I give them M2s if I've got the ammo - Toni can fire hers for 3APs!). Then I've got my mascot/packmule/driver/outdoorsman/dealer-of-silent-death, Shriek, who can laugh off laser fire thanks to his amazing damage resistance.

About the only thing that I need right now is a couple gauss miniguns, and I'm set up.

Heh, I have my team of guys (womans acctualy), well, if you
call 2 persons a team....

I have Erika: Inventory:
Sniper rifle, ammo, more ammo, more ammo, stims, leather armor
mrkII,trowing stars or what they was named,an VERY used knife,
Desert eagle and some money. (Really, I have based my gameplay
on sneaking and sticking them down from behind,
thats why i only have leather armor)

Main important high stats:
str: 10
int: 9
en: 9
per: 8
char: 12 (hehe)
luck: 9
Traits:
bloody mess
gifted
Skills: Main tag: Sneak:200%Trowing:198%Unarmed:200%
Important skills: small arms: 200%Outdoors:150%
and about 100% more or less in all stats (It took a HELL lot of
time to fix all those random encounters, but it was good for
her)

Then, of course, everyones favorite: Hurt and her trusted sniper
rifle, her trusted leather armor mrkII, her trusted doctor bags,
her trusted Desert eagle and her trusted Hummer. (shes my pilot)

Beat that!
