Character editing: yes, item editing: no

The existing editors that I am aware of only edit the stats, perks, traits, specials, and other aspects of your character and even the rest of your squad. However, there is no way to manipulate the items the squad has as a whole or as individuals. So, if anyone knows of an actual item editor, please post where one may get it.

I assume you mean to add items to the inventory of the characters in your squad. I think there was someone who created one recently over at DAC. If I am incorrect in that assumption, the next best thing is to edit one of the missions or bunkers in the game. All you would need to do is to add whatever items you want into crates or lockers and then get the stuff when you need it.

FOT Generalized Entity Editor, well, that was the intention... Here's the link ([link:www.projectplasma.com/FOTgee/|FOTgee])

Most of the objects in the game that can be manipulated or are active are "entities" (characters, armor, vehicles, doors, lamps, etc.) Once a location's entity records are initialized, when the game is saved, a copy of that entity has been saved along with the rest of the objects in that location. If you've ever used the bundled entity editor to change item properties, but your changes didn't show up in your current or a previously visited location, this is why.

FOTgee will modify any existing value -- including the count of items in a stack, unfortunately I never got around to being able to add values or add/import new entities into a location or inventory. I have a fairly good idea how it can be accomplished, but it is a non-trivial amount of work. IIRC, in the source distributions, I've outlined what needs to happen in one of the NOTES files.

The only difference between my last update on that page and now is: 4 months of flu and (so-far) I've survived the 5th round of layofs. Work is not a happy place, consequently I've had little time or energy to move FOTgee along :(

On the upside, it's Open Source (GPL/LGPL), and compiles for both Win32 and Linux :D. So **PLEASE** feel free to continue what I started.

I had a bit of fun putting this together as the link image from my home page:

The BOS symbol was lifted from one of the images on jointhebrotherhood :) the black backfield and gold border are my own invention.
