Hi all,
I've been putting off playing Fallout for so long, it seems like forever now. When it first came out I was waist deep in a 2nd go round in school after getting burned by Atari (along with dozens of other developers) and swore I'd never use, much less code a computer outside of what was absolutely necessary for my studies. But I digress; most of you are too young to remember Atari Corp anyway. Back then the PC was a hunk of junk and windows was ... well it was a bad joke, relatively speaking. But enough of my ranting.
What I really wanted to ask is if the White Label Collection is worth buying with respect to playing the original Fallout and Fallout 2 as Interplay intended. i.e. uncensored. I'm not concerned about modern hardware problems or any probs from newer versions of windows as I've got more rigs than most people have coats. Every PC from the original IBM-PC, AT, 386SX, 486DX, every version of DOS from 1.1 to 7.0 and most versions of windoze from the laughable original thru XP.
So my plan is to play on a socket 478 P4 with win98se. So, again I'm just trying to decide whether to get an easily available copy of the UK White Label version and patch to remove censoring, or try to find a US Trilogy version that's (hopefully) uncensored. And by the way, I'm not really interested in any GOG type downloadable version as I'm still using dialup for one and I have a thing about wanting any purchased software to reside on a professionally pressed disc.
Well that's about it. And if anyone has read this far, you're ok in my book and I could really use some input on which version to go for.
Thanks,
bob
