Jagged alliance 3?

First time out of the vault
I loved Jagged Alliance 2, it was probably about the closest game to the Fallout games IMO and I had a lot of fun.

I looked it up a year or two ago and though it was being canceled but after looking at a few of these sites it looks like it might be back on schedule for development. Does anyone know anything else about JA3 and when it will be released?

It`s going to suck.

They subcontracted it out to some second-rate low-budget Russian developer, who`s fucking with the feeling and core about the same degree as Bethesda`s fucking with F3.

I gave up on this game years ago. I actually used to be a newsposter at Jagged Alliance Galaxy, but it got too depressing.

(Edit: This might be better suited for General Gaming)
Dont know where to start...

There were "supposed" to be 2 Jagged Alliance titles in production. A Full 3-D engine squad tactical game with the full banana "republik" and all. Another was supposed to be a 2.5-D (Something like FO:T engine 3D(ish) chars and props on a mostly 2D background)

Well the 3D version was bad. Very Bad. So Very Bad. For a comparison just google for an old game called "something": Left for dead. That game was a diamond compared to that budget JA ripoff. ( I think the publisher was 1-C) Anyway the publisher refused the game as it was even too bad for them. The title was supposed to go gold under a diffrent name...

The 2,5-D Version... Well there isn't too much info but it seems that went down the Marianne Trench too.

On Another note they are porting JA 1 for Ds.

If you want to play JA, i suggest dusting off your cds, installing it then getting 1.13 fan patch and the Urban Chaos fan mod.

And on the idiotic news; Urban Chaos (Fan Mod) and Wildfire (Official Re-Cook) were both released at about the same time. The Official Re-cook was just JA2 not optimised for new configs. Fan made 1.13 patch and UC on the other hand nets you about 13x more to do and see in Arulco. There aren't any empty squares left on the map anymore :)

this forum is GRATE

everytime you mention a game, sooner or later some <strike>rabid</strike> avid fan will point out the major fanbase patches and modifications that make a good game even better.

its like that thing with deus ex. everytime you mention it, someone will reinstall it.

Why uninstall DX, it only takes up like 300MB. Are you talking about that HighRes texture project, or is there something else I'm missing?

I would like to defend myself :)
I like tactical games, and frankly JA2 was a first for me. I did play the X-Com's but they were, I mean the soilders in them were a bit too generic. Well I only started to notice this after playing JA2 but anyway :)
I haven't seen a lot of "good" tactical games since then. It was just fun to use the quirky, irritating madmen (and women) to do your own http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wild_Geese

Anyway Im not a JA fan but more of a Tactical Strategy Game Fan and here is a list for you too: :D

-Jagged Alliance (1,DG,2,UB,UC)
-X-Com (1,2,Apoc.)
-Silent Storm (1,Sentinels,Hammer&Sickle)
-The Fall Last Days Of Gaia
-Soldiers of Anarchy (Meh)
-Fallout Tactics
-Commandos (1,2,3)
-There is a Mod for CiV 4 (ş think it was 4) that puts you in charge of a squad. in CiV engine. Details Fuzzy. Was Nice

Well these are all the games that are memorable for me without going through the game archive. I am sure i forgot one but... Old age sucks :)

That stinks, if they do release it lets hope they get it right but it doesn't sound too good.

I like Silent Storm a lot but I could never finish it because after you got a little ways through the CPU took too dang long to complete all their moves I sick of waiting. Was I doing something wrong or is there a way to make the CPU go a LOT faster?

It is the civilian included levels I think. The darn civs have about 60+ Ap each. They are supposed to run away from combat and go DaC but the idiot AI somehow manages to mess their movement. Also the Suits are more than a bit buggy in that regard too. The game takes too long to decide what to do with them.
I guess this can be used as another proof that eastern coders are really untidy.
