James Bond thread

Bond Fan

No law ever written is as powerful as Cold Steel
Hi, I was wondering if there were any James Bond fans on here. Say here which movie was your favorite and which book, and how you got into it. I cant be bothered to make 2 long polls so just name your top 5 (or 4,3,2,1 depending on how many you've watched or read) of both films and books.
My personal favorite movies are as follows:
  1. Goldfinger
  2. Casino Royale
  3. Dr No
  4. From Russia with Love
  5. Goldeneye
And the books:
  1. From Russia with Love
  2. Goldfinger
  3. Casino Royale
  4. Octopussy and the Living Daylights
  5. Dr No
I'd say my favorite Bond of the lot would be Sean Connery, followed by Daniel Craig and Piers Brosnan.

I've not really to too caught up on James Bond.
I've only really seen four films
(Those being Diamonds are Forever, Licence to Kill, Casino Royale and Skyfall).

Out of those, Skyfall was by far the best, but even I could see it wasn't really a James Bonds film.
They might be films I'll try and get to over the summer, but that list is already large as it is (With Star Trek taking priority)

What was it about Skyfall you liked?

I really enjoyed the story and the idea that someone inside was fighting against them.
I guess you could say I enjoyed Bond being stripped away of all his gadgets and having to rely on skill.

Don't mean to nitpick, but there were way more gadgets in Skyfall than any other of the Craig Era Bond films, like Casino Royale. I personally didn't like some of the touches, like the fingerprint gun (why not just a gun?).
And the fighting was more like the old Bond films, I preferred the brutal savagery of Casino Royale to the stuff they had in Skyfall. I mean, how cool is this?

Oh yeah, Casino Royale was again really good.
I just kind of prefer Skyfall, plus the Villain sold it for me.

I think we all knew immediately that upon introducing a fingerprint locked gun, that there would be a fight where Bond loses his gun and gets [attempted] shot at with it.
