KI attack?

MikMan

First time out of the vault
I am currently playing a character in FO2 who I intend to train as hc in unarmed combat as possible.

I was reading the vault wiki earlier today and found out about the 'ultimate' unarmed attack: the ki attack (http://www.falloutvault.com/index.php?title=Unarmed). However, there was no indication about how was one supposed to perform the attack nor what are the requirements for it. Would someone here know some more about this?

Ehm, there's no mention of any ki attack in there at all, so I haven't a clue as to what you're talking about.

If you want to know how to perform those attacks, they're all 'modes' of attack. You can switch between them in the same you way you switch between, say, burst and single fire with guns.

Also, wrong forum.

Read again. It's before the 'contents' list.

Believe me, I am completely aware of that..

I'm guessing it's a hoax. There's no mention of why OleMurder added that, nor is there any mention at all of it in Per's guide.

Seems likely. I did a quick google search and all mentions of the unarmed attack known as "ki" seem to point to Neverwinter Nights.

Hm.

What about the 'blow shifting', also mentioned on the same page? AFAIK, the dodger perk(said to be a 'trait' on the wiki) only adds a few points to AC.

Yep, it adds +5% to your armor class.

Wait, I think there was a dodge perk in NWN that gave an AC bonus if you had no items in your hands. It seems to me this guy didn't know what game he was talking about.

There is such a perk in FO2 too. The HtH evade perk doubles the amount of AC bonus gained from unused action points in the end of a turn. That is, if you have both item slots empty.

Duh, it seems this page was a misinformant mess. I edited it a bit to reflect the reality of Fallout. That's the problem with Wiki's, you either have to lock them or watch over them constantly.

As for the "Ultimate" attack, I kept getting Haymaker for most of my chars. But Palm Strike, Piercing Strike and Piercing Kick are what you're looking for, if we take the Mega Power Fist out of the picture for a moment.

Ach, damn 'em all. Guess I'll have to settle with the 'piercing' attacks, then.

And just to let you people who haven't played a martial artist character yet: it can be truckloads of fun! So far I've encountered no serious difficulty problems without using a single firearm, wearing only low-level armor and having just a single NPC in my party. It's a great sensation to beat Bishop and all of his underlings to a pulp using only your fists and feet (no drugs either!). However, one might encounter some serious problems later on when the enclave steps in.

Heh heh. Jackie Chan style :D

And remember, kids! Winners don't use drugs!

So? Try diplomatic ways when neccessary.

Remember, if you can avoid a fight, you've just won.

That would depend entirely on how you want to play your character.

Besides, the Power Fist would be the appropriate answer to the Enclave.

Yes, well, that might prove to be difficult with a speech of 0% and a CH of 2.

But hey, atleast Mr. Kung Fu will get to die in style!

Of course, if one's ideals about 'style' do not go along with getting blown into small chuncks of unidentifiable organic mass by enclave troops is a different matter.

Am I right in saying that to get the special kung fo moves you need to be trained by Lo Pan or the dragon? I've had characters with Unarmed of 100%+ with only strong punch or haymaker: is that because they haven't been trained?

No, you're wrong.
There are strength, level, agility and unarmed requirements to the attacks.

Unarmed 130% should give you all the attacks. You might keep getting non-piercing attacks because in a normal game, when you try to optimise Unarmed Skill/Skill Points Spent ratio by having trainings, you would rarely get more than a few points above 100%.

Theres not Such thing as Ki attack i remember this rumour and its proven false many times. But well u really dont need it either. Since theres nothing in Fallout u cant kill with fists... Its best action type character build that there is in Fallouts...

However, there are several unused types of kicks and punches in Fallout 2. I don't know if anything remains of them besides attack button texts as .frms. There's chop punch, force punch, dragon punch, lightning punch, death blossom kick and jump kick you can find exploring the files within master.dat.
