Kicking an addiction

One of my guys, Stein, got addicted on some radiation-type chemical with just a one-time use. I am wondering how you get rid of the addiction, or if it just goes away on its on. The manual doesn't say anything about addiction.
 
I wish our characters could rest like in fo1/fo2! All I can ever think is "god these people must be tired!"
 
... and if you are not keen on running into lots of random encounters walk around within one of the green circles on the world map and you will not see anybody.
