Killap patch + B-Team and Miria mods for F2

Aramis

First time out of the vault
I started a new topic rather than tack this onto several existing threads in order to avoid duplication. After fiddling round for several days I finally got The B-Team and Miria Mods to work with Killap's patch, and I may have figured out why some people have trouble with them together.

Firstly, the Miria Mod readme does not give sufficient detail for the install, and I suspect that a lot of people (me included) just unzip the Interaction and Levelling folders into the Data folder and wonder why it doesn't work. If you install the Killap patch first it will write in folders like Scripts, Proto, Text and of course Data/Data. From there it's fairly straightforward figuring out which Miria Mod bit goes where. The Interaction and Levelling folders don't go in - only the contents do.

Secondly, The Party.txt file (in all versions) that specifies the chance of levelling and the new level PIDs seems to have a typo in it in which Miria is spelled 'Maria'. (Line reads "[Party Member 10] ; pMMaria_PID" ) It's read only, so use Properties to uncheck read only, change 'Maria' to 'Miria', mark it read only again and away you go. I'm not sure if the typo change is essential, but changing that was what got her to level for me and I'm too lazy to double check. Three days of fiddling and restarts should be enough for anyone.

The B-Team mod is packaged as a Patch000.DAT file, so of course if it were installed it would override the Miria mod because of the file hierarchy in F2. All you need to do is download a DAT extractor like DATExplorer and extract the package, then install the folders manually before the Miria Mod files go in.

The sequence is:
Install Killap Patch (deleting Patch000.dat if present as per instructions).

Use a DAT unpacker to unpack the B-Team Mod and install manually to correct subfolders.

Install Miria Mod manually in correct subfolders (discarding the Levelup and Interaction folders), correct the typo in Party.txt in Data/Data, and mark all protos as read only.

And it works! Miria goes from 35 to 70 hp when you level (%chance) and says 'I think I just learned something new'. Her new dialogue is rather too adolescent for my tastes, so I rewrote a lot of it for the lactose intolerant vault dwellers like myself. Less teen, more spleen.

Do you guys think that the above information is enough, or should I package the B-Team and Miria mods together so that it can be installed to the correct directories on top of the Killap patch, and then upload the new package to the mod section? It cost me several days of frustration to figure it all out, and a combined mod might save some people some grief.

(Oh, and I hope I don't get a .223 to the groin for starting a new thread :) )

Wow man! I was actually trying to do the same thing and could not get Miria to levelup after combining the two mods because of that typo! :D I'm so glad you pointed that out. This problem has been posed before in the forums and I bet others have tried to figure this out before, like me, without avail. I think that would be awesome if you compiled it and submitted it to the downloads section. Either way, I can not wait to manually try your fix over this weekend.

Oh and just so you know, you do NOT have to install the B-team mod for Miria to change her appearance, at least when I tried to combine the two mods. The Miria mod appears to include the B-team armor changing code at the end of mcMiria.int . Not installing the B-team mod causes only Miria change her armor appearances, not the rest of your party.

Glad you posted!

Yes please! :D

Just so you all know, that typo changes nothing. Nothing to worry about. Everything else said at the top is right though.

That would be GREAT if you did! I wish more mods took Killap's great patch into account, or offered two versions.

Hey guys, just wanted to say that this thread has helped me a lot to put the mods working, but I've been trying to use them with the FO2 children's patch and it doesn't seem to work... Any reason for that or am I missing something out?

(I didn't find any other topic for this problem, so I thought I'd just post it here, since this is the mod combination I'm using. If I put this in the wrong place, would a moderator please be kind enough to remove this post so I can make a new thread for it? :) )

I thing you need to restart to make the children appear. But I could be mistaken. I don't see how the children patch would conflict with the killaps patch and the NPC mod. Did you put the children files in the right folder ?

I believe I had problems with F1 childeren. Even though I had them installed, they wouldn't show up. Did you install them to difrent locations on the disk ?

no, the only files of children's patch is in the right folder inside the FO2 data directory, and I didn't have any problems with using it before I installed Killap's patch...

Anyone else have any ideas?

EDIT:
All working almost fine after long experimenting.

1)
Wenn you hit Miria in a fight, she get hostile next time you say to wait.

Other NPG's dont have that anymore.
