killap's FO2 expansion: 'too many items' bug?

First time out of the vault
I've been a huge fan of Fallout 2 and I decided to do a run again recently. I decided to do it this time with killap's expansion, but not long into the game I've discovered a really frustrating bug.

I managed to wipe out the slaver guild in the Den with very careful turn-taking at level 4. Surprised with my luck, I looted every corpses I find; yielding a lot of 10mm pistols. I headed on to the Vault city after rescuing Vic, but this is where the problem happened: Every time I try to exit the east side of the Den, the game crashes on me regardless of the exit grid I take.

After several retries I looked up my problem on Google. I found something about a bug called 'too many items', saying that the save will get corrupted if there is too many items in one area. I suspected that might be my problem with my the amount of my loots. But then I remembered I have never encountered this problem before on my previous vanilla playthrough. I thought it might be a problem with the expansion, but more information I found on the internet conflicts with this and say that killap's expansion pack has fixed this issue.

I don't know if this is an original bug from the vanilla game or it came with the expansion pack. But it's really annoying that I can't continue this save I have spent hours on.

Is there a solution to this problem? :(

AFAIK the "too many items" bug is not related to "normal" items but those with script attached, like holodisks in vanilla, magic-8 ball, hintbook, etc.
Personally I never encounter any problem for wiping out the slaver guild and taking dozens of 10mm pistols with me in both UP and RP.

I'm suspecting you have saved during combat and reloaded while taking care of the guild? This might be where your issues are coming from.

The too man items bug is indeed only related to scripts attached to items. The issue you have is something else.

I suggest posting the save game for others to look at. Darek's the man when it comes to this but I don't think he's around right now.

I'm also leaning towards what Drobovik said. We need more info in regards to what you did before the crashing started happening.

If I were around I would probably say to replay it from save slot 061. That save is not corrupt and you only have 4 slavers left to kill.

As for the problem, I don't think it's combat related but to do with releasing the slaves. Most times it seem to work fine but I managed to reproduce it once when I saved (and then loaded it) while they where leaving.

Not sure if all the obj_dude scripts you get from saving and loading a lot plays into it, but I only got it to corrupt my save once out of six tries, so can't say anything really. Will just have to wait for more error reports I guess.
