I have recently bought fallout2 from Gog.com. It runs fine on my windows xp system -- but there are no children, and I travel so
quickly I do not have any encounters. Searching the net, I ended up here, because it looked as if installing killap's patch would fix the problems I am having issues with, and a whole lot of bugs besides.
I downloaded the wizard version of killap's patch from this site, and ran it. Fallout2.exe no longer runs. You get the error 'this program appears to be running in compatibility mode'. Now, I don't know anything about compatibility mode -- or indeed very much about windows, since I use linux for all serious work. But I followed the instructions here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/appcompat.mspx
ran the compatibility wizard, and found that it would not run as
either a win98 or a win95 program.
So now I am stuck. Suggestions on what to try next?
Thanks very much,
Laura Creighton
