Killing the Merchant (FO1)

I'm having trouble finishing this quest up. I've reached The Hub, and have been contracted to kill Hightower and his wifey. I'm able to kill them and the guards in and around their house, but the guards are now all hostile to me, which is a pain.

Any tips on finishing this quest in a more "subtle" way?

there is a window on the south of the Hightower chamber.
So you can shoot him from this window , that's make you avoid his guards.

but you have 2 or 3 shots before he goes out of sight.
