Legacy Problems (as usual, thanks windows)

First time out of the vault
I recently downloaded the official FO2 mapper in order to make myself a new location or two to my game (and post it on the site i have some cool ideas.. a mad max spoof town, and a bunker) but it will refuse to realize i have Fallout 1, 2, or tactics installed (of which i have all) and i have tried quite a few things. Help a nerd out?
 
It would probably help. I have no knowledge in the subject, though, so I can not help you.
 
Mapper needs to be installed to a specific location, not just anywhere. If I remember correctly fallout must be installed to just C:\Fallout
and mapper goes in that folder too... try searching on this forum for mapper tutorial or some topics about mapper
EDIT: ok here you go, this is what it's suppose to look like in the end.

But you also might need to install citylimit patch
 
Unfortunetly i have windows 8 and no matter where i put it it will not accept it... what do i do? (couldnt load text/fonts)

that might be Win8 problem... No idea how to fix that, I still have WinXP. You could install XP on the different partition on your hard disk. So you have 2 OS's and then install Fallout on XP.

That would be complicated, specially if he bought the computer with Windows 8, since by default it is installed in UEFI mode, and Windows XP would require him to fix it to work in the legacy BIOS mode.

You mean ReactOS? Is still alpha, and it would be for some time. I wouldn't recommend it for everyday use to anybody, but it's fun to test. I haven't tested it in a long time, so I'm not sure if Fallout runs on it.

It's likely the program/user... I wonder if the OP run the game it self? Does he use GOG version(iirc it comes with DOSBox), installed killaps patch or some mod?
