I've just signed up to this message board hoping to find something interesting. To be honest its a bit ridiculous. Is the main point of the FO:T message board for 2 groups to argue?
Also, think of the argument. The first group is posting bad points of the game and hoping a producer or designer of FO:T comes in and takes it all into consideration. I agree with this.
While some people who, in my opinion, have nothing better to do, sit here and actually argue the point. THINK ABOUT IT. If there would be no complaints on games and know gruesome reviews then how would games get better. If gamespot would rate all games 10.0 then there would be no compitition, hense no games. So please, allow the people to post there complaints and don't take it so personally. Its not like somebody cursed out your mother.

Now here's a few of my little bug complaints. hehe. One of which is that it is true that the combat system and AI are a little messed up in the demo. Here is how i can kill a room with 200 Men inside. First i position 2 of my guys with MK5's or UZI's on two sides of the door so they won't be seen by the people inside. I move the first guy in, fire a burst and, depending on how close they are to my shooter, the enemy takes damage. In most cases they are close to me so they get ripped to shreds right away. After the shot i have enouph Action Points to move the man away from the enemy line of sight. I keep repeating this and i can kill off a room with up to 1 million soldiers inside (if they can fit). So i guess that explains the AI. For the combat system itself, i would think that TB is better because you get to plan out your attacks. Keep in mind that it is not that easy and quick to target an enemy when everything is going so quickly in this game. What I mean by that is that, to control 5 men to target things and providing cover is not that easy and against a strong foe it will be very difficult. So many might start with that new mode (forgot what it was called) but my guess is when the game gets hard they will go back to the original. So that new mode(whatever its called) is a superb idea but they have to work out the bugs on it.

In closing i would like to add that this is the demo, and as i read in the "news" section of this site, they said it was the alpha version. There is much work to do for them. I think the demo is made so you can get the feel for the game. I'm sure they will release another demo with less bugs later on and I'm also sure you'll read posts on this message board from people that are rich or spoiled that bought the game and tell you what its like.

So don't argue, just share your views. Don't try to be smart by using big words or something and trying to 'dis the other person out. And YES, i do understand those "big" words for those of you who would comment on that.

Anyway, I'd like to wish all of you a happy christmas and new year.

Peace.

At least, we hope they come in and take this in to consideration. Frankly, I don't have much faith in Interplay. I really haven't had much faith in them since they rushed Fallout 2 out the door, released two patches which didn't fix all the bugs, and then dumped it.

Well, not to mention the fact that most, not all, of them seem like annoying teenagers who can't be bothered using moderately correct, or even readable in some cases, grammar. Of all the strongly pro-FOT people, I think only Lael and Willie are the only two who haven't used the words "whining bitches" yet.

I haven't seen any of the people with gripes spam the board with lots of new topics just to tick off the moderators.

Yeah, I've noticed this also. They don't seem to have any motivation. Maybe the raiders are communists and lack incentives. In the RPGs, if you pop your head around the corner and blast them, then run out.. They'll come and GET you from all around the map.

I also use Turn Based mode when I play. I do like the tactical planning in Turn Based more, but the main reason I use it is because it preserves the balance of the character stats from the original Fallout games.

I really have to question the people who call themselves "Fallout Fans" that haven't noticed, or don't seem to care, that the attribute balance is completely nullified in the real time mode.

Case in point, your tactic or moving around a corner, firing a shot off, and moving back around for cover. That requires a high agility to pull off in Turn Based mode. In real time mode, that advantage is gone. You move around in front of that door, you get blasted as soon as they see you. That tactic no longer works at all.

There really isn't the finesse balance from Fallout in Real Time mode of 'He Who Shoots and Moves More' vs 'He Who Hits More and Better' vs 'He Who Can Get Hit More'.

MicroForte likes to call it "Continuous Turn Based", which is a farce. There's nothing turn based about it. It's "Real Time".

And totally redo the balance of it so that a guy with a high agility can cope with those who don't. It's fairly stupid the way it is now. Action Points regenerate at a constant speed, which seems to be one second per AP.

Instead, all those APs should be usable in the time frame that's a "turn", say five seconds. Say you have 9 APs, all those should regenerate in five seconds. If you have 6 APs, that should also take five seconds. You should also be able to do everything with those APs in five seconds.

That way, a guy with a high agility would actually run faster than a guy with a lower agility. That preserves the balance of the game because in Turn Based, Agility *is* Speed.

Yeah, right. This game is WAY too stable to be an alpha version. If it's an alpha now, there's no way they'll get it out the door in Febuary.

I have hope for this game, regardless of how negative I sound. I really want a damned nice product though. If it bares the Fallout name, it deserves quality.

I like big words. :)

As moronic as this might sound, I played the second mission in the demo quite a few times and beat it. Each time the debreifing starts, I close my eyes and hope that he forgets its the demo version. Those of you who passed the second mission know what i mean. :-)

I like what your saying, I think they should add those numbers to your cursor like in fallout 2, everytime you move(when an enemy spots your or you spot it) you loose aps, then it would be a better CTB to me, why dont they just do Fallouts TB and just take away the turns part then there you go a good working CTB.

Frankly, I think the only way to solve this problem is let my teammates have a brain of his/her own. Then Press pause before going into a suspected trouble area, then give orders to hold this position, fire at will...... etc. Then watch as both sides exchange shots, and u know that yr plan may be screwed up then in come u trying to be a hero killing more ppl than yr teammates add together.

To solve the Ap problem, I think the guy with the most agility should be able to gain more APs faster. If it is at the same speed then it is screwed up.

I really do wish there was a pause feature, that's what made BG so popular... atleast to me...
