I don't know if there's any linux dudes out there, but i think that Fallout 3 should have Linux "translation". Despiting the fact that windows sucks, i still use it as a game platform.

It bothers me that alone game indrustries could keep Microsoft up becouse most games are originally made to windows, let's chance that and give Bill a kick in the butt!

RE: Linux support!, lol yes i agree,

I use to have a mac, but it was too slow, and they make not only most games for windows then mac, wich is the reason now I have a pc/windows, but alot of other software too
( mm i know there is something here i didnt spell right, but dont bother flaming)

Know anything about Wine project?

There is Windows emulator on Unix systems that Microsoft is developing too, the price? About 20 000 bucks. There is similar project, called as WinE(opensource), but i don't know anything about that.

If you Win-guys ever install linux, i warmly recommend you to play X-Bill or X-Evil, they're marvellous games!

RE: Know anything about Wine project?

Well, i dont think you need emulator !
My father could launch Microsoft Money with Linux !!! without emulator ! Well, at last, he cant use it cause there is a bug... But try to launch a Linux programm under Billou's Boys' Windows Bugs'OS :D
I dont know if you can launch fallout or else, but people who are using and developping for Linux can probably create something in order to run windows programm with Linux.

Why anyone would want to run Windows programs, with exception to games, on a Unix machine is beyond me. The only people who could afford $20,000 or even $2,000 for an emulator on Unix would be people using the Unix machine as a server. The cavaet is that nobody uses WindowsNT/2000 as a *real* server, except those morons who can't be bothered to learn the real operating system.

Wine does a pretty good job of emulation, I've heard that Starcraft runs nearly flawlessly on WinE which is pretty good considering that it is a game which uses its own DLLs and such. However Blizzard is pretty good at making quality programmed games, unlike Westwood which creates some pretty buggy shit.

Here's a report stating that Fallout 2 on Wine runs *faster* on Linux than on Windows: http://www.winehq.com/News/1999/29/fallout2

Well, I agree Windows NT is shit. Literally.

NO other operating system has had as many security holes and botch-ups like it. Win2k is even WORSE.

Did you know that it takes a 900 page manual for a Navy sysadmin to set NT up to the point of having the security or fonctionality that even FreeBSD had?

A little history for those who haven't read it:

Back a few years ago, some moron decided to see how they could save the US Navy some money by switching from Unix to NT. It looked good on the books, but the idiot had no clue as far as system security, I could state that as FACT.

So a lot of ships and shore commands went to NT. To get to anywhere as near the basic security and functionality of a *nix child, they have to do a LOT of setup and alterations.

Against the orders of CNET, and with good cause (though permissed), my division had a little 'hack war' going on with some twits in Pensacola that thought NT was better than anything else.

We were using FreeBSD (when it was ordered to use NT), and they used NT. Needless to say, they couldn't touch us unless they resorted to DoS attacks of certain types. They were broken into and defaced every three hours. Yeah, it's so bad, if you knew the system, you could have a script hack in.

But still, the US Military as a whole are dumb as rocks when it comes to security, and still use NT widely, yet I could tell you the folks at my liason command probably shot anyone who talked about NT in any tone other than derogratory.

Why do you think navy.mil gets hacked and defaced every week? It's a complete joke, and their security staff is around a dozen.

So I state incontrovertibly, NT is a floating turd in the toilet bowls of bad operating systems.

This redefines sucking ass...

RE: Know anything about Wine project?

In fact, i wonder know if microsoft want to be in guiness record book for buging their soft more and more... Every microsoft OS are shit. And if it wasnt for playing, it would be a long time i wouldnt use microsoft product anymore...

Win2000 even worse?

I haven't got much experience with w2000, because it eats all memory in my machine, making impossible to use other programs, such as Paint Shop Pro's text-tool, I have 32 megs, it's not much, but this is minor graphical tool we are talking about. It takes few minutes of hard-drives on full burst, and if i'm lucky, psp won't fall, and i will see my text.

My ps/2 mouse works, however, perfectly in w2000... A miracle!

You're kidding me, they thought NT would cost them *less*? What at $5,000 for a 5-user license compared to $0 (ok, $20 the CDs) for an unlimited user "license" and better yet you can change the code however you damned well please?

You should have used a script and had it tally how many times it made it in.
