Hello. I'm new to these parts (although have played Fallout 1 and 2 before), and I'm (as part of a much larger project involving other games) planning on setting up both Fallouts (in a manner of speaking) with mods.
My plan is to do Fallout 1 through Et Tu (I've played through it several times vanilla and once with Et Tu and only light modding beyond that), and Fallout 2 with a lot of heavy duty mods. My current planned setup looks something like:
Fallout 1/Et Tu
Et Tu
Carry Weight Indicator (Seems to be bundled as a turned-off-by-default option for Et Tu)
Upscaled Interface (Seems to be bundled as a turned-off-by-default option for Et Tu)
Inventory AP cost (Seems to be bundled as a turned-off-by-default option for Et Tu)
Lossless soundtrack (FLAC; the uncompressed wav wasn't working when I last tried it, and I'm assuming FLAC is highest quality anyway. Note also that I'm assuming this covers both Et Tu and Fallout 2 proper.)
FO2Tweaks
Corpse Loot Drop, Et Tu Edition (I'd like to use some of Banjo's other mods, if they are Et Tu friendly)
Shady Trader
Kenji Rearmed
Fallout 2
Restoration Project Updated
Maps Updated
FO2Tweaks (installation separate from Et Tu version)
InventoryFilter
EcCo
Talking Heads Addon
Talking Heads Actually Talk
Corpse Loot Drop
Sneak To Drug
Deadly Poison
Skip Temple of Trials
Temple of Trials Tweaks
Weaponized Radscorpion Limbs
Neither list is finalized, and it may well grow over time before I settle on it. In any case, I wanted to ask some questions pertaining to both setups:
1: Is there a straightforward means of finding out whether these mods are all compatible with one another, such as a utility, tool, or some sort of method of organizing or examining the files? Some of them have readmes that have sections on compatibility, but not all, and those that do don't necessarily cover everything in my specific setup.
2: How many settings files would this setup have, and where would I find them? I ran a search for .ini files through Windows Explorer, but got around 50 results, many of which I imagine are of little interest to someone with my preferences. There's also .txt files, but that turned up in the literal thousands.
3: Is there anything (other than stuff explicitly earmarked in the settings documents themselves) I need to watch out for in the settings of these mods vis a vis compatibility? For instance, I imagine I'd want to stay clear of some of the combat tweaks that would overlap with what EcCo is trying to change.
