If it actually exists anyway. I'm trying to read up on it (for some ungodly reason) but I can't find any info. Tried a bunch of search engines (even the almighty Google) and got nada. Help anyone?

I don't think it exists. I've done the same search and nothing but Fallout-related sites have anything to do with it.

It looks like a large sniper rifle that is used by certain special forces. I think that it was suposed to be a new sniper rifle but they probably changed it. I have never heard of a machingun looking like that.

The weapon you are looking for is called [link:home.swipnet.se/~w-68757/sniper/m82a1.htm|Barret M82A1]

In Fallout they have changed the Ammo-type from .5(12.7mm) to .233(5.56mm) Also as was said, its not a "machine-gun". Just semi-automatic ;-)

No I don't think that is what the Bozar is supposed to be. For one, the Barret barrel would not be accustomed to firing rapid shots of the powerful 0.50 BMG round, as it would overheat and put a LOT of wear and tear on the barrel.

Plus, the kick from the Barret is enormous. It is one of the heaviest sniper rifles in existance, weighing in at around 28 pounds.

I don't think the Bozar exists. I mean, having a sniper-minigun? Isn't that a bit contradictory? The purpose of a sniper rifle is to take out the target in one hit. The minigun's purpose is to spray a target with many shots in order to inflict massive amounts of damage with not real need to have perfect aim.

It's still my favorite minigun in Fallout 2 though...

Weird, it also looks quite similar to the standard sniper rifle in Neon Genesis Evangelion, the one Unit 00 uses. Of course, Unit 00's rifle would be about as long as a destroyer...

That sniper rifle is the "classic" big sniper rifle that many shows and games use as a model. In the Weapons Factory Q3 mod, that is the sniper rifle used by the sniper class.

I think it stems from the fact that the Barret M82A1 was (I think) the first sniper rifle of that size and power... not sure, maybe it wasn't, but it is still one of the classic ones.

But since its just a game, they can pretty much do what they want :-)

It isn't as enormous as you might think. It has a form of anti-kick-thingy as in the barrel is loose in a way. So when you fire a shot the barrel bounces back and thus the rest of the gun stays somewhat still. Plus that the barrel has "exaust-pipes" that puches the "gunpowder-gas" out so you lessen the kickback there to. And hopefully you understood what I was trying to say ;-)

Of course the BOZAR doesnt exist but they just the modell of the Barret to invent it. As I said, its just a game.

Well a sniper-minigun perhaps doesnt work but a sniper-assault-rifle sure does. Several of those out there.

If you call it a MINI-gun, its mine to ;-)

But imagine the kick from a 20-round burst? Also, the gunpowder-gas blast from a Barret is enormous. It'd be pretty funny seeing the guy fire and have a cloud of hot gas all around him. It'd be pretty hard to aim after that...

I'm not trying to counter you or anything, I just find a sniper-minigun concept kind of funny..

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Nov-25-01 AT 09:38PM (GMT)[p]But since they use 5.56mm rounds in fallout a 20-round burst isn't hard at all. Your m16 for example uses 5.56mm rounds. It isnt difficult at all to fire like that. And since you shoot from the hip in fallout its even easier ;-)

Just to get my point trough. To fire a big gun isn't as difficult as it may seem.

Well if you figure that personal miniguns don't exist anyway (except the BB or Rubberband variety), I guess anything is possible.
