Looking to record FO1 gameplay, please walk me through setup.

I've seen people use two or three different applications to record Fallout gameplay for the purposes of Let's Plays, but whenever I try to the video is choppy or the game is ridiculously painfully laggy.

So someone who's done it before, please help me out by showing me how to set it up, so that we can have a Let's Play Fallout FIXT. :)

Thank you ahead of time for your assistance :salute:

Maybe try DXtory. I've heard it's less laggy than FRAPS. Not sure if the trial version lets you record though. Worth a shot?

Hey Sduibek,

At Mutants Rising we (Ardent and me) use the Avs screen capture which comes with the Avs video editor. Unfortunately the software is not free.
The video is still a bit laggy but we think it's good enough for our needs.
At Olympus 2207, they use the BSR screen recorder (another not free software).

You may want to try the trial versions of both softwares.
The only free screen capture software that I know is Camstudio, but I didn't use it with Fallout1&2 yet.

Thank you both.

Is there anything specific I need to do with settings, or can it work "out-of-the-box"?

I am using a solid state drive so I know that hard drive speed cannot be the bottleneck; not really sure what causes all that lag. CPU maybe, I don't know.
