LucasArts...

Some of my favorite games of all time, and some of the best ever made, were released by LucasArts in the mid/early 90's. Games like Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, etc. provided us with hours upon hours of fun.

Alas, boxes get moved, discs get scratched, files get lost. Games disappear.

So, I'm embarking on an epic quest to find these games again, by any means necessary...anyone know where I should start?

I'm pretty sure they still sell all those games on their website in something like a "classics collection". I've seen Full Throttle, Grim Fandango and other LucasArts games in places like Gamestop for $9.95 as well. They're one company that I don't mind cracking down on "abandonware", since they actually do still sell all of their games. And thanks for giving me and excuse to play Grim Fandango again!

I saw it at the Babbages at Fashion Square mall a few weeks ago. You might check there.

You can find pretty much all of Lucas Arts older games for $9.99 at EB, Gamestop, etc.

Check abondonware sites, you can download some of those games for free....but usually dont work so well with XP

ALL abandonware work excellent in XP if you download VDMSound from http://ntvdm.cjb.net and use it to run the games. Lucasarts' abandonware too. It's been tested

*goes to complete Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Zak McKraken for the zillionth time*

LucasArts were the kings of adventure games back when that genre still was hot, which also happened to be my favorite game genre until I discovered roleplaying games. Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, etc. were great games then and are still fun now. SCUMMVM is a great little program to help run them now.

There's still the new Sam and Max adventure game to look forward to. Oh, and I found a Curse of Monkey Island buried in the 10 dollar bin at a Fry's Electronics. Pirates, clever quips, great fun. Funny thing is that I've played all the Monkey Island games except for Escape from Monkey Island. Somehow, I managed to fill in the plot holes (yeah, I'm very deductive).

I had an old BitTorrent link that had all 12 SCUMM games on it. Don't know if that's your cup of tea, but I could post it of you want.

Sorry AO, I appreciate your generosity but we can't do that here - no links to abandonware, including BT.

I'm pretty sure abandonware is fine, since it's technically legal. Normal warez aren't tho'.

'Course, I could be mistaken.

Well in this case it's Lucasarts, which cracks down pretty hard on sites that make their software available. I doubt they would notice if we had it, but I'd rather save Odin the potential headache of having their legal dept hassling him.

To me the best Lucas Arts game of the period is Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe and the dozen expansions for it.

Anyone play Loom? I loved that too, but it doesn't get very much attention...
