Macomb - Mine Field

Okay, I know I'm supposed to be able to shoot mines to detonate them. Why can't I? I move the cursor to a mine and get a red target with a percentage but when I try to shoot, my selected team member goes to the mine and (usually) gets blown up. Please help me out with this one.

Hold down the control (CTRL) key and right click. Be careful when you have the hummer, because you have to hit CTRL and LEFT click to enter it. More than once I have opened fire on my own vehicle
