Magnetic Super Weapon

SquishyDeadBody

It Wandered In From the Wastes
I was staring into my Microwave and I thought to myself,

What would the possibilities be if you could map the Magnetic structure of all molecules?
I believe you could create a Projector/Ray Gun/Satellite/Mega Microwave of sorts that could lock onto magnetic signatures such as "oxygen" in a specific range and concentrate the magnetic signature of oxygen into one area or vise versa.

With this device it should be possible to levitate objects or even make them heavier, heat them up or cool them down.
In the end the device could be used as a no hassle killing machine.

Just point in the direction of the town or city from your higher than high satellite and presto everyone is breathing concentrated Carbon Monoxide.

I do believe it would take vast amounts of power to use but I have a theory on a power source which I believe could solve this dilemma.

I am not totaly educated on the possibilities of this idea, so as the reader what is your "opinion and Ideas" upon the possibility and improvement of this Magnetic Microwave Weapon?

SDB, guess how radar was invented? The Brits tried killing people by aiming radiowaves at them. I believe that Something of the sort has been developed as a "less than lethal" weapon - the idea is the microwave radiation will create a "burning sensation over the enemies' skin" so as to make them uncomfortable and stop fighting. I am not into weapons, and could not tell you the mechanics or the stage of development, but I am pretty sure the militaries the world over have been studying all kinds of ideas for energy weapons. What worries me, is that this will end up ust another lethal area-effect weapon (think white phosphorus shells designed for illumination but used to burn infantry instead).
Intentional use of WP is against the Geneva Convention. My worry is that a Microwave weapon will create skin burns, which will end up being lethal due sufficient area of victim's skin covered with burns and possible radiation damage to internal organs. If ever created and used in such fashion, it will be terrible on its victims and any capture by enemy troops won't bode well for the crews servicing such weapons.

That's cause, it's closed space, and insignificant range.

Actually we do know it quite thoroughly. It is just that we can't use the knowledge cause the dampening effects of the atmosphere, and that the properties change when combined to other molecules. As for exp. the microwave uses water as a media for the heating effect, with is only oxygen and hydrogen combined. But when not combined they won't react.

So most probably a laser weapon of somekind. Study what the word laser means if you do not know. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser

I saw on the news that the US army has tested a microwave weapon that makes you have the sensation that you are on fire as a non lethal weapon in the last month or so.

And also I heard news that someone has made a 60w laser that they hope will be able to destroy land mines & such when the can get around 100w out of it from a range of 100 meters when it can be concentrated on a target for 10 or more seconds.

I am not sure of lasers for mine clearing, there are more interesting ways to clear a field. A Bangalore Torpedo is a great old standard. The new method for clearing minefields comsists of genetically engineered flowers. It is used in long term minefield crlearing projects during reconstruction in places like Cambodia, Angola and Afghanistan. The seed is spread over large fields from helicopters. The next summer they grow into field flowers that have been genetically modified to metablize the nitrate compounds in high explosives. If the high explosive is present in the ground, the blooming flower will change color from white to a different color.

You know what I heard? That the Americans are planning on building a gigantic death laser on the moon as a weapon. Awesome!

Sorry, though, I don't have any sources or anything like that to support this, but I heard it! Yeah!

You can kill people with radio waves. Remember that the microwave works by exciting the water molecules in what you put into the oven. Guess what happens if you stand in front of a radar dish for too long, you get cooked. IIRC, the Mig 25 had a radar that was so powerful that pilots were forbidden from turning it on when the aircraft was on grounded for fear it may harm ground crews and the local wildlife.

You mean this, from a few months shy of two years ago? Not that I'm too confident in New Scientist, but it was better than the other sources I found for this story, like UFO Digest.

Snader BBC news interactive scinece an tecnology is my source check around the bbc.co.uk websight if you have the time.

Holy crap that's a shitload of spelling errors.

Also: yeah, my source is economist.com. Look around the website some time and you'll find it, I'm certain!

Let us see, that is six out of seventeen words misspelled. Interestingly four out of seven words six letters or longer are misspelled, though you did spell your longest word correctly. To say nothing of the grammar.
thereforareason

Anyway, this is what you are looking for I believe. I found it inside of three minutes, put a little effort into it, right?

SANDER, btw, read up on Strategic Defense Initiative research, and this is PUBLIC, bro, Americans have shot down a missile in flight with ajumbo jet based laser as a prototype of course, but they have done it, so don't play cute. Also do some reading on the UN sponsored de-mining programs, for the interesting and exciting new methodology for explosive detection and diffusion. You just might get the bug to get out of your cubicle and bring some positive change in the world, you might actually become a happier person minus a limb or two.

Yeah, and what's the relevance of this to my comments exactly?
Oh, right, that's it: nothing. I never denied any of these things.

Derail: At this very point, Sander has 8888 posts and I have 4444. But what does it mean?!

That he has twice the number of posts you have?

I think most of the relevant things have been said. Microwaves are a potential weapon and the US Military has developed such a device for crowd control. Also, this:
One person suffered a burn in a previous test when the beam was accidentally used on the wrong power setting.
could be taken as a proof that there are more uses for such technology than just crowd control.

No, it means sander should go buy a lottery ticket before next post, because 8888 is super lucky.

And Luxor should avoid going out, because 4444 is super UNlucky.
