Map of United States by College Degrees...

so the west coast is smarter than the central and east coast?

plus, while a college degree is nice, for lots of jobs technical school is preferred rather than a college degree.

guy at my work has a 4 year computer science degree focusing on networking and never got to see or touch a real piece of hardware or got any in-depth classes on computer networking. all they taught him was the theory which is quite useless when you get a job.

on the other hand, if you go to a technical school and take networking classes, you get to touch and hands on experience with computer hardware.

i got more practical experience in 6 months of technical school classes than he got in his 4.5 years of college.

end result? i know more about it than he does.

It just means your friend is trying to get the wrong kind of jobs for his degree. That, or his education was shit.

living in dark blue surrounded by dark red is like living in a bubble. every time you leave that bubble you go "wtf really?!" and go right the fuck back to your bubble as soon as humanly possible. being in a band and touring can be horrifying because of this.

You're in a band? Awsome.

It is normal that in the state capitals you should have the educated population, while in the interior the population is not well educated. That's because the kind of jobs in small towns aren't the kind that requires fancy degrees.

Let's not forget, colleges love money. Last I checked, the economy isn't so peachy.
