Mapper2 crashes on starup

Well, I've downloaded and installed Fallout 2 Mapper. Start... black screen [read from CD, from HDD, from CD, wait... CD] and now crash!
Win98/2kPro, both PL
F2 1.05 unofficial (1.02 US exe) English, small install
Mapper2 in other catalog, w/OpenWatcom.
Weird thing:
in mapper2.cfg:
[system]
cdlock=
freespace=0

in fallout2.cfg
[system]
{no cdlock=}
freespace=20480

Please do not ban me out after the first post.

I suggest:
- Verifying that the critter_ and master_ "paths" are correct
- Trying the full install
- Reverting to the 1.02 "official" patch
- Putting freespace to 20480 (heh, why not, fallout is working...)
- Still no luck? try decompressing the DAT files
Finally, could you check the language line in the cfg?

Ok, i found.
The line
art_cache= (or something with cache=)
was set to 261.
I've got 64RAM && fixed size 256 swap.
Changed to 32 and works. Slowly, but works.
