So there I was, replaying FO2 at my leisure, and got to the Enclave. Loitered around, fixed the usual stuff before completing it - you know how it is. So then, right before I was going to set the reactor to meltdown, I walked back up to Marcus to bring him the friendly gift of a brand new Avenger Minigun and some bullets that I had picked up for him from the lockers of the Enclave. I gave him the equipment through Barter while he was still waiting for me as a non-follower, then it occurred to me that I might as well tell him to use his best weapon, so that he'd be ready when Frank Horrigan would take the scene.
Then the son of a menstruating mother tells me: "I thought you were one of the good ones. I ain't coming with you." Huh - what the fuck did I do? So I loaded a game from before I went to the rig, told him to wait for me and he was all dandy about it, then a second later when I tell him to tag along again he refuses, and gives me the same crap reason about me being 'no good'.
Could it have anything to do with having the childkiller karma? I did play the game a good character, and didn't usually go around killing children, but I was forced to make an exception in the case of the Westin family. I wiped them out clean, from the father to the youngest boy; it was a choice I had to make for the greater good. Had I left but one of his lads left alive, I would not only have left him to a world of pain, but he would surely have come after me some day. Growing up, he would have thought of his father as a martyr and started a new family - like Vito Corleone did when he was out on his own - and the world would have been worse off. It was purely in the name of good will that I spared no one, although I realized I had to sink below my own moral to make that decision in an act of self sacrifice. The other families in New Reno all met the same fate. I would see no exceptions.
However, I already had the childkiller karma when he joined the party, so that wouldn't make sense either.
To continue the story, I sent the Enclave to it's doom through a reactor meltdown, killed Frank Horrigan and decided to speak to Marcus once more to see if I could talk some sense in the old chap. I couldn't, got ticked off, and shot him at point blank range in his fat, warty mutant cock with the YK42B Pulse Rifle. He was roasted on the spot, and didn't even get a chance to have at me with his minigun gift of love. Shortly thereafter, his ashes were scattered all over the pacific.
Thoughts?
