There are news about the release of Akella's Metalheart: Replicants' Rampage (did I even put the apostrophe correctly?) for all you Britons, Scotsmen, Welsh and Northern Irish folk (as well as those throngs of Polish <s>flyers</s> plumbers), here's what we've got from Gamer's Hell: <blockquote>BASINGSTOKE, England (September 12th 2005) – Developed by Akella and distributed exclusively by KOCH MEDIA in the UK, METAL HEART: REPLICANTS RAMPAGE will release this month on PC CDROM priced at £19.99. This turn based, isometric role play game, strands the player on a remote planet, under the grip of a tyrannical corporate empire. Their goal is to return home, but as an outsider to an entire planet, things are not that simple.

After a freak deep space magnetic storm, Sheris Sheridan and Lanthan Signey find themselves catapulted and stranded on the unknown planet of Protion. Sole source of the super powerful combustible, Tactonium; Protion is a strategic asset in the galaxy and under the firm control of a tyrannical Empire, who has enslaved the entire population.

In order to escape the planets clutches, Sheridan and Signey must overcome many challenges and dangerous situations, ultimately uniting the four factions of humans, mutants, cyborgs and nomads in an attempt to overthrow the Empire and return home.
</blockquote>In addition, we learn that GamerDad has reviewed the game, calling it 'a commonplace Fallout facsimile', or something along those lines:<blockquote>The Fallout games are considered two of the best role-playing games ever, so it seems to make sense that games that clone the attributes of those games should be widespread but they aren't. Some games use certain aspects, but there have been precious few post-apocalyptic games made to date, none of which have used a turn-based combat system.

If this is what a 2005 follow-up to Fallout looks like, there probably won't be another. </blockquote>Also, they said the translation is repugnant.

I have bought this game, but to you to buy it I do not recommend!
A plot rectilinear, as railroad...
To generate the character it is impossible - play such " as is "...
Video in game primitive...
Even in view of the established patches, gameplay in game is absent...

:(

And the worst part is the time swap between combat turns, when in at the beginning you don't know what you are doing, so you might read some of the descriptions of the games statics, and about a half hour later you stop to continue the fight you were having, but what the hell it's night and you can't hit more than 20% of the time and I remembered it was still bright day when I went to read the manual. And though the game has the AP. So what happened, isn't the combat turn supposed to be a representation of time spend in doing the killings, not a the time spend to thinking what to do. THIS IS A MAJOR PROPLEM.

man, that's just embarrassing... hopefully more people get that problem so that they correct it

I'm still waiting on my press copy, so I can't really say how good this game is or not.

This game is booorriinnnnggg. Everything happens sloooowwwwlllyyyyyyy. Is there some way to actually disable the energy level, so one can RUN into places when not in combat mode.

Plus somehow I always manage to throw the god damn greande without actually pulling the pin on it. The first quest are like for morons. Transport this, you get mooooneeeyyy!

I might try this game on the weekend a bit more.
