MGR music (+other good dreary post-apoc sounding "ambie

penumbra

First time out of the vault
the title tried to include: (+other good dreary post-apoc sounding "ambient" music?) for anyone who wants to talk about other good music of this type.

just passing word of this project along for anyone who hasn't heard it and/or likes this sort of thing:
http://www.myspace.com/mgrsounds

its one of the guys from isis. (side note- for daydreaming's sake, not really perfectly suitable for bethesda's project (sorry i guess that might be called f****** (heh) related for a sidenote depending on the person, i'm waiting until it comes out bla bla bla; not intended for f****** discussion so don't try to shoot me.), maybe more stalker, but i don't know or trust bethesda yet, so maybe they should call them mgr up. maybe good for a post-apoc if gallagher were pleasant to the cause. i do not know.)

anyway in case anyone likes uhh, ambient music. i guess i know the whole genre is "overplayed" by annoying affected and pretentious insecure dropout* losers who like to bore you (or sometimes try to sleep with you) with their pathetic shit "existentialist" woolgatherings, but that really isn't going to get me to shy away from it. also, if you like isis you may like this (who are playing in my city in march in case anyone lives in ottawa, montreal, or toronto. this is along with jesu (broderick of godflesh) and zozobra both of which are also on myspace. solid stuff. also, ignore that the project is called mustard gas and roses. mgr is relied on more thankfully. think mustard gas peonies if you need to. mustard gas daffodils. snowdrops. baby's breath...

*(enough dropouts are not losers, mainly these ambient afficionado (sp?) types)

The limit of my experience with ambient are aphex twin's two disc set, and things like Vangelis..

I prefer IDB to ambient though.. unless I'm looking to sleep.

Look for Gigantic Brain. Some really nice creepy electronic grindcore, based around '50s alien invasion sci-fi. Has some great creepy ambient pieces between tracks.

Electronic grindcore, is very simple, grindcore, the most extreme evolutionary form of punk(very fast, heavy distortion, screams and grunts), played with a lot of keyboards and a drummachine. Also called e-grind.
