If anyone is hankering for some old school gaming, Midway is serving up more Arcade Treasures in the fall. The big news here is that the first three Mortal Kombat games are going to be included in the pack to tie in with the upcoming Mortal Kombat:Deception, and the original NARC is going to be in it as well, to tie in with the upcoming NARC revival.

Anyway, here's the complete list:

Nice to see that Hard Drivin' is getting some love, although the sequel, Race Drivin', should have been included. I can't complain about the selection, though... :lol:

Midway Arcade Treasures 2 shoule be released in the fall for the Xbox, PS2 and GameCube for $20. Like the original Arcade Treasures, the Xbox version will have Live scoreboards. 8)
 
Sweet, I might pick it up just for NARC. I have it for MAME, but it runs horribly.
 
Sawyer is doing the new Gauntlet game? Nice. I'd like to see the end results with him and John Romero at the helm.

And as for the NARC revival, I'm looking forward to it, but the thing that has me nervous is that you're literally encouraged to do drugs in the game. Speed literally speeds you up. LSD gives an acid trip that gives bad guys "devil horn"avatars and civilians "jester"avatars. And marijuana, well, it gives a "bullet time"effect that the devs call Weed Time. I couldn't make this up if I tried.

I swear, the anti-video game crowd will cause mass hysteria over this... well, at least until Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas comes out...
 
Weren't you mowing down drug dealers and junkies in a fully armed Porsche that had rocket launchers popping out of the front fender A-team style in the original NARC game, and getting hit with syringe shooting junkies was a bad thing???

Boy, the times have definitely changed...

The whole concept of "weed time" is hilarious. Do the side effects also include laziness and a bad case of the munchies?

Awesome. I'll definately be picking this collection up. I can't wait to play my buddies again in the original Mortal Kombat!

For the record, I have never played Daikatana, although I remember that ad like I saw it yesterday, along with the pic of Romero lying like a bloody corpse in Quake 1. :wink:
