missing characters

im new to FOT:BOS. when i enter bunker alpha and look for the general, he isnt there. the minimap shows that he is on the map but not on the main screen. this is annoying. the same happens when i do a full install. at the training missions, the dummys are not on the main screen but they are on the main map.

my computer specs meet the requirements. also ive installed all the patches (1.27 and the 76MB one)

HELP!!!!

Try installing the patches again. If that still fails, I would suggest reinstalling the game. If it is at all possible, install the game to the default directory.
 
ive tried all of what you suggested...but it still does not work....is it a faulty disc??
 
Here is the general directory structure for the FOT installation. Yours should be the same:

Program Files/14 Degrees East/Fallout Tactics/core/

Subdirectories of core from a full installation should be:

campaigns
editor
entities
gui
locale
min_tile_set
missions
music
screenshots
sound
sprites
tables
tiles
user

Under the sprites folder, go to the characters folder and make sure that you have a dummy.spr file. This will be the necessary to have the dummy appear. I didn't exactly do a full installation but have unzipped most things into their proper places on the hard drive.

If you need more help I can go into more detail about what should be where. Give me more specific details of things that you notice missing.
