woke up and realized, that in multiplayer games, say for example someone kills a N.P.C and saves, then in another game sinse the fact he killed that NPC someone els in the game would not be able to see or do anything with that NPC say he had something to do with a quest, so he will have to find a game where someone did not kill that NPC. One idea is to have porribly randomized NPC's not programmed NPC's that it didnt matter if you killed them because he will not exist in another game anyway because they would be randomized, now im not just talking about pure randomization, but %s of what type of charecters will be in what city, or what kind of NPC's in seartain cities, such as criminals, citizins, people that will give you quests that say have something to do with another NPC in another city, and randomized quests, why would you want to do a quest that is going to be the same next time, well it wouldnt matter the first time I guess, but sinse people are going to save before they do any serious actions, why not have it randomized anyway? atleast in mutliplayer games, and if someone kills the NPC that you were sent to do a seartain (randomized) quest, oh well you will not get to do the quest, big deal, I mean this is a POST APOCALYPTIC time people!! alot of bad things can happen, and (randmomized things) all of these bad people, there must be some % chance that someone you were sent to help/kill/beat/warn/get an item from/ give an item to/ befriend or whatever can get killed, and this would only happen in a multiplayer game, unless the programmers went through the trouble to program this ( non randamized actions) NPC and then program it so the guy you went to help/kill/beat/give an item to/give an item to/ befriend ETC would not be there if you did a seartain thing, witch they will also have to program, wich they CAN do in a single player game sinse there will be no other player to do such a thing, but that is what would be the thrill about multiplayer, POST APOCALYPTIC!, people, what... did you expect any less? then to have the possibility that your allie NPC or whatever would just get shot, that would also be the thrill that you could get PKed, sooo many people worrieng about PKes I welcome PKes,,, once again.. (POST,,,APOCALYYYYYPPTTIIIICCC) because what is the fun that you will only get atacked if you go hostile first, if you ask me that is pretty boring, unless the programmers program one of them to pick a fight with you, where is the thrill in that? you will either go hostile with him first, or just try to avoid him, pretty boring just knowing what will happen, but in a post apocalyptic world,,,, anything is possible, and more things are possible in a MULTIPLAYER GAME, and a way to solve that if you kill an NPC someone els will not be able to do anything with him, well problem solved, the makers/programmers/ can make a whole different system for multiplayer,, it wouldnt be very hard if most of it was randomized, and with the randomization NPC.s will only have a seartain list of things to say, and any NPC can say the same thing( wich is actually more like real life) but they have only but a small list of things to say in a non randomized system wich could be the single player virsion, but seartain NPCs will have a different % chance to say seartin things, say it is a thug will have more chance to mug you and take your money, or ask for it or whatever, then if the thug was mugging another NPC, a citizin NPc would have a seartain % chance to ask you for help, or another player for that matter, in any case this is an idea to solve the multiplayer system, if any one els has any ideas, please post,

I am a big fan of random things happening... but it'd be a bitch to program.

I think you need to do more research on multiplayer games:

It appears you are trying to mix multiplayer with mass-online.

With mass-online, you cannot 'save'. Everything is on the remote server for obvious reasons. As far as NPCs and if one gets murdered, in that case it'd just be like other MMORPG games where everyone is in the same world. Check UO or some other purely online game for an example.

If it's a small multiplayer game, then usually the savegame is saved on the host's computer, if it saves at all. To resume, all characters would have to be there to resume, or some would be dropped from the party upon restoration if they were absent. Look at Baldur's Gate 1/2 for an example, and how it works.
